BARNES OUT
Mark Nicolas @ 20/20: "...and the young right handed West Aussie, Luke Pomersbach, to come."
Certainly more than a "bit" of one IMO. His batting has often been better than his bowling at first class level. Seriously under-rated batsman.entertaining
annoys me when i tell other ppl hogg is a bit of an allrounder and they dont believe
I didn't mean they had tapered off - I meant he hadn't sustained them for a long period of time yet. He never did a great deal with the bat before this season at all and he's always been a very up and down bowler. So no, not a dud call, IMO.How has Noffke not sustained his performances? He got 40 odd the other day in a Ford Ranger game and his last Pura Cup match took 5 wickets. Dud call.

He obviously means for an extended period of time, ie. a few seasons. Look at the Australian team, how many of them haven't had multiple consecutive seasons of massive numbers in domestic cricket? Clarke and Ponting I guess, and they were both young prodigies.
Kumble has had him LBW about three times though. That last one was plumb.Hogg's a better Test batsman than Symonds, dead dinkum.
Yup Punter was due for a failure and lets hope these twin failures make him more despsate to do well in the future games, but again the Australian batting showed its class by putting up a strong performance on this without Ponting's contributing much.I think its pretty good to see Ponting fail twice (hasnt happen in 6+ years) and yet Australia still get 300+ in both innings... which would be average..but on this wicket...worth even more
brilliant
anywho just listening to ABC Radio with Harsha bogle and Damien flem.. two of my favs.. particularly the former.. coz i dont normally like subcontinent commentators at ALL but he is one i find much more entertaining
and they were talking about Pups batting.. against spin.. was interesting when they said he was more old school rather than current players who sweep and what not... (or in Roys case, clubs it)
his 70 was really a pleasure to watch.. once he is in.. he just seems unbowlable to if you're bowling spin ..whether you are Murali or Kumble or Harbhajan or Vettori or Kaneria.. which is a pretty good list
the straight drive off Harbhajan was the shot of the test for me.. by far the best white player against spin imo atm
I admit my wording wasn't the best but Smith knew what I meant so it can't have been that difficult.I don't see how he obviously meant that, if he did.
Not yet.One thing that I will take away from this loss is that the Indian attack can take twenty wickets in one of these Tests.
lol nah...very different499 to win for India, i hope Ponting has made his decision to declare keeping the Horbat test in mind.
Well no matter what Noffke is definitely a better choice than Symonds.I admit my wording wasn't the best but Smith knew what I meant so it can't have been that difficult.
Noffke hasn't shown sustained performances over a long period. It doesn't mean he hasn't been good lately - it just means he hasn't been good for the length of time usually required to usurp an incumbent.
Right attitude as unlikely as I think it is.India can win this.
A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
Yeah i know this pitch is a lot different to the one at Horbat, i was just trying naughty there.lol nah...very different
for one.. this pitch IMO is worse for batting.. keeping low more and more abrasive.. therefore reverse swing
and we also have a spinner who wont bowl full tosses... i think MacGill must've bowled about 10+ full tosses which is 40+ gift runs
and also Symo as well.. we were missing his bowling and fielding in hobart
and India need a miracle like at Eden.2001 Eden garden the last time Ponting got out for single figures in a Test
