The Indian batsman certainly have struggled against Johnson
Strange thing was, they struggled against Bracken in ODIs just before the 2003\04 series too (and broadly it was the same batsmen doing the struggling). And had no trouble at all with him in the Tests.

Yeah, MacGill to have surgery in a bid to get his knee right. More than ever, you question what he was ever going to get out of the "boot camp" that would have been worth this ongoing injury concern. He's not really the type to say "sleeping in a tent with my team mates, or successfully abseilling down a rockface, has given me a new appreciation of what I can achieve as a team-member". In fact, I don't think anyone with the ability to grasp metaphors without physically acting them out is. 8-)

Didnt realise that Macgill had already been under the knife twice in the last 6 months - explains his appearance as it's a bit hard to run around the block when you cant walk

Steve Waugh should really stick his hand up and apologise for questioning his commitment under these circumstances

In test you dont have to score of evry ball..if the batsmen strat to think that ok i am going to bat for along time..then you need to have very good balls..to beat them..i afraid..bracken or for that fact may be jhonson..will struggle in this regard

With MacGill ruled out of the Indian Test series who will replace him? At the moment I'd say it's a toss-up between Tait, Hogg and Hilfenhaus or maybe even Heal as an outside chance.

would be tempted to bet that it WON'T be a spinner, tbh.

Ok, make an avatar bet then :p.

If it's Hogg (selected as the fourth bowler for the first Test) I win, if it's anyone else, you win. Two week bet, if Hogg is injured bet is off though.
Very easy avatar bet win for you...

****. Guess we'll be needing Pathan after all.
After Zaheer, Sree and RP - probably Munaf and Pathan are the best on offer right now.
They've given Munaf a try in the 1st test, hope Pathan gets a go in the second (his batting is a nice plus, especially if India needs to plan for middle order collapses in Australia).
