***Official*** India in Australia

I seriously don't think a high fourth innings score is out of the question. For quite a while there have been musings on CW that a 500 fourth innings score was just around the corner and if any side can do it, it'll be Australia. It's not a certainty and India are comfortable favourites, but rule Australia out at your own peril especially with this pitch.
Yeah I agree. People who are calling this for India already are being premature. Yes, a 400+ chase has only happened a few times ever, but how many times in the last 10 years has a team been set a target between 400 and 500 with a good batting lineup on a pretty decent wicket?

It's not a total road but it's a decent batting pitch, Australia have a good lineup and India's attack is fallible IMO. They bowled very well in the first innings but if Australia get through the new ball none of the seamers are world class. A 400+ chase is definitely possible, even if a 400+ chase would still make India favourites.

I don't have a problem with giving Symonds & Clarke a bowl to see what they can do, yes they are economical but that is hardly the problem given 2 days are left to play. The priority is wickets, if someone is not looking dangerous enough stop bowling them.

India has been able to tap Clarke & Symonds around risk free for an hour at about 3 an over - thats a late Xmas gift at this stage of the innings (yes over rate is an issue I guess).

Lee & Clark need to have been bowling the majority of overs with Johnson & Tait on for quick sharp spells.

And just as I finish typing Symonds gets a wicket so tell me to shut up  Still - at what cost was that wicket?

Contrary to what some believe, this is about a hundred runs short of a "safe" lead. Come on Kumble - stick around at least until the new ball in 17 overs.
Kumble will score a 50, but that's besides the point, 300 was always a safe score on this pitch. The Indians are swinging it far too much.

Kumble gone now. What a great series. Just when you think one team will run away with it, the other team claws it's way back in. Absolutely brilliant series.

On another note, Symonds has some voodoo spell on him. I am convinced now.

Symonds not an allrounder? Pfft.

Despite what people might think of his luck or that he's not test class, if it weren't for Symonds Australia would be well and truely out of this match.

Who's to say his replacement wouldn't have scored a century or taken 6 wickets though?

Who's to say his replacement would have? Lame argument and clutching at straws. Just give it up. Symonds is well and truely entrenched in the side. Get used to it.
I wasn't arguing that. I was arguing your statement, "If it weren't for Symonds Australia would be well and truely out of this match." There is no way of knowing that.

So you're saying without Symonds' performance Australia would be a chance in this match? I was referring to his performance being in the side, not who would have replaced him. His 2 wicket have been crucial and his 66 runs also.
