Bill Lawry has really been ****ting me this series. Dravid grinds his way to a hard-fought half century while in awful form, building a great parternship with Laxman, and Lawry slates him saying things like "Laxman's innings has been even more impressive because he's had to put up with Dravid." Then Sehwag plays an awful shot with no foot movement which sees the ball just go past 3rd slip for four, and that's "great stuff from India."

You'd never guess he was the player he was listening to his commentary. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so hypocritical.

Decent enough to get out Dravid, Sachin, Laxman and Ganguly though.
Because... that's the whole point he takes his chances and puts off the bowlers from their lines and lengths, so by being so aggressive and hitting anything that's anywhere near his arc he doesn't let the bowlers get into any sort of rhythm, so his aggression certainly helps him.

That's not what he was saying, though. He was saying that NZ don't have quality enough bowlers which is rubbish.

Sehwag dragged a ball onto his stumps and the ball deflected of the stumps without breaking them!

Stuart Clark has arguably been Australia's best Test bowler since 2005-06, yet even after the retirement of McGrath Ponting doesn't give him the new ball.

It's amazing how things have changed. Anyone that scores at a strike rate of 60 is too slow nowadays and a liability. You always have to playing shots no matter what the ball. A quick fire 30 or 40 of blazing bat and poor technique and no footwork is like gold and a patient 60 or 70 is frowned upon.

And i am saying that when its his day, quality of bowling attack and pitch conditions all go out of the window.

I'll admit Vettori and Bond are world-class with Martin not too far behind them. But Mills, Oram, Franklin and Styris? I think not.
Talking 2002 mate. 6 years ago. And you don't have to be world class to be threatening on the wickets they played on in that series.

You know, talk about luck with Sehwag all you like, but Dravid played and missed plenty of the time, was dropped (and was caught off no balls twice) in the first two tests.

Hayden was incredibly lucky early on Boxing Day.

Its the nature of cricket.
