Bill Lawry has really been ****ting me this series. Dravid grinds his way to a hard-fought half century while in awful form, building a great parternship with Laxman, and Lawry slates him saying things like "Laxman's innings has been even more impressive because he's had to put up with Dravid." Then Sehwag plays an awful shot with no foot movement which sees the ball just go past 3rd slip for four, and that's "great stuff from India."
You'd never guess he was the player he was listening to his commentary. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so hypocritical.

Because... that's the whole point he takes his chances and puts off the bowlers from their lines and lengths, so by being so aggressive and hitting anything that's anywhere near his arc he doesn't let the bowlers get into any sort of rhythm, so his aggression certainly helps him.

I'll admit Vettori and Bond are world-class with Martin not too far behind them. But Mills, Oram, Franklin and Styris? I think not.
It's amazing how things have changed. Anyone that scores at a strike rate of 60 is too slow nowadays and a liability. You always have to playing shots no matter what the ball. A quick fire 30 or 40 of blazing bat and poor technique and no footwork is like gold and a patient 60 or 70 is frowned upon.
