Wow, the ball that Rogers got out to was an absolute disgrace. Slow full bunger right on the stumps. Should've creamed it for six, not fallen lbw to it.

Is Hayden going to be fit and if there is a chance of him playing, so you think he would be risked? Bearing in mind if he plays and he has another set back he can't have a runner when he bats.

I think the selectors would name a 13 or 14 man squad for the Test. I think Chris Rogers or Simon Katich would be selected, rather then somebody like Brad Hodge and make Mike Hussey open.

The squad has already been named. I reckon Rogers is a decent chance after his 60 now. Though I would certainly like to see Katich back.

So it has.

I was surprised that they didn't pick a replacement player since it would be a call that would be made right up onto the toss IWT. I would be surprised if David Hussey or Adam Voges got picked, would rather a specialist opener or Katich picked.

If I were a selector, I'd pick Katich and open with Hussey. Katich should be chosen because:

1 - He has a very impressive record against India
2 - He has a lot of experience at the WACA
3 - He is in the form of his life
4 - He's a bloody blue bagger!!!

I wouldn't give Katich a place in the side at all. He just wouldn't perform at international level and I think he knows it too. Who would you drop, sideshowtim?

most of these guys are fairly good, was supposed to be playing against Perera tomorrow but cause he's playing here he's out of 1st grade. We are in the middle of Two dayers here so its the same for every club losing players. He's pretty quick, going by last weekend I'd say high 130's.
But with Rogers and Cowan in there its slightly stronger than a usual Comets side that compete pretty well in the 2nd XI comp.
Is the Broncasauras still going around up there?

Sehwag for Jaffer.
Even though he has less talent as a batsman, I have more faith in Jaffer playing an innings of substance than I do Viru.

I have no idea what happened to Sehwag, it looks like he stopped using his brain while batting, you can guarantee he'll either chop one onto his stumps or flash one into the slips/gully early on in his innings. Disgraceful he got a recall ahead of guys like Badrinath and Tiwary.

You ask an awful lot of questions. But I still think Herald Sun > The Age.
Mainly because I'm not prepared to pontificate about things I don't have much knowledge about.

And with regards to cricket writing, no question that The Age is infinitely better. Not much difference in footy reporting though.

Don't like the philosophies and the 'ifs' and 'buts' The Age newspaper incorporates, I just like the straightforward pictual facts Herald Sun offers. Also the size of The Age is atrociously big imo.

Then so is Adam Gilchrist and Chris Rogers :p Simon Katich will and always be a West Australian to me.

Bit of a bizarre saying "Bhajji didn't say anything but I told Ponting I'd apologise if it would shut him up, and he wasn't down with that". I agree with his point that to say sorry shouldn't have to equate to admitting being in the wrong, but in this circumstance surely he can't be surprised that Ponting thought the offered apology hollow or insincere if it was offered with the attached accusation that Symonds was lying about the abuse he claimed to have received. Another report stated that he was disappointed because he asked Ponting not to report it but that Ponting told him that he had already reported it.

I've always liked Kumble, but I don't think he's actually covering himself in glory in this episode so far. Hopefully he and Ricky can actually productively discuss the issues and resolve some of the tension before the 3rd Test.

I think he's handled himself just fine. Several non-partisan reporters agreed that it could and probably should have been squashed. There's no excusing racism if it can in fact be proven without a doubt, but tensions were already running high with everything else that was going on up to that point, that it's just escalated into the mess it is now. Why shouldn't Kumble state what he had told Ricky? I don' t think he's necessarily doing it to just to throw Ponting under the bus, but even if he was, most people would say Ponting and co. had it coming with their self absorbed perspective they have carried with them this series.
