***Official*** India in Australia

But the wicket unlike Indian ones will surely quicken up as the test progresses. Ones hopes so anyway.
With the older ball and less bounce, I can only see the potency of fast bowlers declining where speed-bounce combo is concerned (already the bounce is low). Whatever wickets they get would be because of swing more than bounce or speed here imo. Spin will be crucial as the test match progresses - another aspect because of which I say that in Australia, you couldn't get a wicket more similar to one in India from what I can make out.

Khan bowling well but this happend to Jaques against Sri Lanka. If he sees his way through it he can get a big score, Singh started ok but he is starting to bowl a little too wide and these conditions wont last all day so you cant waste them.

I don't get why we don't have an extra fielder there. WTF.

As Lad said, these conditions wont last and you need to take whatever wickets you can while you can.

Good bowling by India, however if they don't get a wicket soon it will have been pointless. The best time to bowl on the MCG is on the first morning of a Test...soon after it flattens out. A lot.

Singh & Zaheer getting some serious swing here. Does the G normally swing this much?

Chappell & Slats "having words" already in the comm box. Bodes well for 5 days.

Haha Ian Chappell. How does he still have a job at Channel 9? Raving on about bats being too heavy. Yeah, Jaques's best shot that's been making him ****ing mountains of runs for years in domestic cricket shows his bat is too heavy.

Seriously, does he just say idiotic **** for a reaction or what? I know he is right per se, but he's been late on one cut shot from abotu 100 this summer. itstl.

Early on the first day of the Test, yeah it's not uncommon.

I think Jaques and Hayden are doing quite well to still be out there. A couple of wickets could've very easily fallen thus far.

Ha, yeah. As I alluded Slater was fairly dismissive of the suggestion, to put it politely.

The thing is, India have bowled well and it's already 44/0. Hayden & Jaques have ridden their luck a bit, but when the shine goes and the bowlers tire it could be murder. Especially with Ganguly as the third seamer.

I would RP 2 overs to settle now. He started with plenty of swing but his frustration is getting to him and his line is all over the shop. Give him 2 off to settle him tell him he started well and get his focus back.

Be interesting watching how Matt Hayden plays Ganguly, can't see him being as accommodating as the Pakistani batsman were.
