*Official* India in Australia Thread

dravid's wicket was the turning point in this match. before that, india were looking completely in control to batting out the day and saving this match. whats more, ganguly was getting pumped and smacking lee all over the park. but after dravid got out, ganguly got tentative and played one on, and then some good bowling at the tailenders saw india into an awful position, with only young patel providing some resiliance...basically india will be defending a meek target of about 100 now, so we're almost definitely looking at an SCG decider :O can't wait! oh well...there goes nehra...the lead stands at 94. so 95 to win for the aussies. hrmm...i wonder what the odds would be for india to win from here. it'd be interesting to put a coupla bucks on it at the TAB -- might get a coupla hundred back if they did..lol

I expect Gilly will open the innings with Hayden and by the time I wake up( around 7.00am India ;11.30am Australian time, everything will be over). So my advanced congratulations to Steve and Co and the Man of the match Ponting..
I feel really happy the way in which Indians treated Lee.He can't do much., Akthar is far better than him.

Amazing how tight Bracken bowled today, it was excellent!! All of the bowlers bowled magnificantly I thought. Dravids 92 obviously the highlight of the Indian batting, however he didnt look as sharp as usual, so well done to him for that innings.

I wonder if the aussies will put someone out in the middle who needs some practice, ahead of Hayden. Maybe not, they tend not to do that.

As for Lucky Eddie wanting to please the aussies, well thats the biggest load of bullsh*t Ive heard in a while (however, I did skip alot of that 'im a patriot and your not' crap).

Mr. Luckyeddie "duck" , now i know y r u always trying to please the australians. Beleive me, it wont be of any avail. The australians are not going to do any favours on you(neither in the cricket field, nor on this forum) when the ashes starts next year.

But keep on Trying. That's what the england team always does.
They always try try and try to lose:lol:
I'm not the greatest Australia-lover by a long chalk - if you read some of the Devil Ducky columns you would never really get the impression that I want to please anybody. Amuse, entertain, perhaps, but please?

What I do like to see is fair play, credit where credit is due - I watched a personal friend get hounded out of international cricket because of unfounded allegations of favouritism or bias - well, not exactly allegations because the spineless persons concerned just used innuendo (I'm looking at you, Javed Miandad).

If India win, I will be dumbfounded.

Laxman and Dravid both got out to balls they hsouldnt of h ad to play at. In this tour I have discovered, the Australians rate Patel highly enough to set defensive fields to him. I have never seen a team to that to him.

India needs such high standard umpiring(which was lacking till now) for the rest of the game and series.
So when a mistake rules an Australian not-out it is biased and a disgrace.

When a mistake lets off an Indian batsman it's either not commented on (Sehwag) or praised as high standard.

Actually I believe all that LE is doing is presenting a balanced unbiased view on some scandalous claims that are trying to blame the impending Indian defeat on anything except the fact they're not as good as Australia.

Bet 365 offer the following:

Australia 1-100
Draw 40-1
India 33-1

Makes the chance of rain even less than the chance of India skittling them!

And the best bit of all about this match is that unless AA picks up 3 cheap wickets, only one person got the top bowler right! :D

U mistook it.It was a reply to LE's comment regarding a good judgement by Shep for a notout decision for Dravid. Today it was flawless.

I hope for Sydney, they drop that GOOSE Ashish Nehra!!

He is BY FAR the WORST International Cricketer I have ever, ever seen.

He is talented with the ball...and that's where it stops.
He is pathetic in the field, and can't bat at all.

Agarkar, Pathan, Kartik, Kumble would be a much better option.

The most ridiculous thing is that Nehra looked more solid with the bat than Agarkar.

I think Ganguly should back Patel, instead of thinking "it's all over" when Dravid got out, he should have tried to build a partnership with Patel. Patel has some fight.

Serious feedback appreciated.
Not bad, not too sure what this means though: "They need no further introduction - patriotic Australian crowds had seen far too much for their liking, while true cricket fans hoped for more and more." Seems to suggest that patriotic Australian crowds are not true cricket fans... but all things considered a good run-down of an interesting day's play.

Ahh - thought that might cause a few problems. What I was trying to get to was that most Aussie fans would like to dismiss them early but as they got past their national colours they hoped for a strong display from the pair.

Er......that was because they were allowing him a single to get off strike.........you know, to get at the tail ender?

I think what Craig is suggesting is that the Australians think Patel can bat a bit, otherwise they would have had the pressure on him also.

Yes......some of the Indian batsman played him tremendously well - with their heads and other parts of their bodies.
Tendulkar obviously thought his bowling would be a piece of cake at the end of day 3 - so much so that he decided to stay in the pavilion.

Lee has recently returned from injury, and had only an ING one dayer and a four day Pura cup match under his belt prior to this test.
To come back after a month or so off and lead the attack as he did was an excellent effort - it was clear that he lacked rhythm at times......but he will be much better, and much quicker for the next test.
There is no doubt in my mind that India's batsman were more comfortable when he wasn't there.
