End of play day one

shewag - 74
chopra - 102
dravid - 25
sachin -65*
ganguly-29*

extras 11

india 306/3
sounds realistic to me.

Pitch wont help any of the bowlers much at all once batsman get setteld.

India could even score a few more than 306 this is a very quick picth and the ball will come onto the bat really nicly once the batsman get used to the extra bounce.

If this was Australia batting I would expect 400+ runs in the day.

Australia bowled only 27 overs. Is this a little behind?

Besides, I'm surprised nothing was done to Ganguly after the first game's dillema with the Indian overrate. Did he catch up or was he just let off not to spoil the reward of his great century?:P
They will bring it back in the 2nd and 3rd session with MacGill and Katich bowling

Ganguly was fined some 5 of his match fees

After all he is from sub continent

There were a number of stoppages because of helmets getting bashed and Chopra needing treatment.
Aaah, thanks for that. :) Where I live, we don't watch cricket - we read it. ;)

brilliant start by india! after getting knocked in the head a few times they've kept their composure and settled in, and finally increased the RR with a quick scoring boost in the final overs before lunch. congrats to sehwag on a well deserved 50 at last. with the stumping, from the side-on view it was almost 90% certain that a fraction of his shoe was behind the line. the reason u could see white from the stump-cam was because it is from low down and u could see under the heel of the shoe. so good decision IMO.

I know you are Indian but I think most people Indian or Australian would concede it was VERY VERY close no way nere what you are suggesting.

To my mind you could not see any shoe behind the line but there was still prehaps some uncertainty thus he was given the benifit of the doubt.

no i think it was a good decision, not because i'm indian. because i could actually see a tiny portion of the foot behind the line. on the contrary, i think chopra should've been out with the straight drive by sehwag...i can't believe the third umpire missed the fact that chopra's bat wasn't grounded. and there shouldn't have been any doubt as to whether williams touched it, because the umpire was right in front of him and should've seen it, and if there wasn't any touch, he shouldn't have referred it to the 3rd umpire. so yeah, that should've been out.

Well, Chopra's gone now. I must say, I'm quite impressed with the opening partnership. One of the largest in many years, no?

India going great guns, are 184 for one, with Sehwag getting a well deserve ton!

Australians needs some quick wkts badly. Is this the weakest Australian bowling attack in the past 5 years?? Can't recall Steven Waugh captaining a side with such a weak bowling attack.

India are 219/1 after 57 overs (at tea). Brett Lee and Bracken started off bowling a lot of short ball aimed at the body trying to intimidate the batters. But India have managed to get on top, thanks to a blazing 100 by Sehwag.

Sehwag is playing a blinder. In the last couple of overs he smashed all the bowlers including steve waugh.

Another great session for India. They also had luck going their way. Hope they continue till the end of the day.

Waugh so far has used six bowlers (including himself) but had little success. Indian batters , Sehwag in particular, has made amockery of this Aus bowling line up.Australian fielding was also not very impressive.

I think Australia badly needs a good strike bowler,Lee bowled some good bouncers but was overall unimpressive.
