Why can't all disputes end in smiles? :)

India win the toss and are batting.

330/4 at close, I reckon.

Head on plate.
Staggering prediction.
Now, can you give me 6 numbers between 1 and 49, please?e

I only watched the first session (just too tired) and, for an hour, it looked as though India would struggle terribly against (especially) Lee. The run-out mix-up set the scene for Australia, though.

What a howler!!! And you know, the throw to Gilchrist (unnecessary as it was) wasn't as bad as the commentators tried to make out. A foot wide of the stumps, half-way up.

The duck was watching that with interest!!!

I'm not writing the Aussies off yet but - and it'a a huge but - without their main bowlers, it's a pretty powderpuff attack.

Lee bowled pretty poorly IMO , some very nice bouncers , but the follow up deliveries (the most important part of past bowling) were to frequently short & wide rather than full & straight.

I agree with you about the throw , not nearly as bad as it was made out to be , just out of curiosity do you have the same commentary team we do.
You know , Warne , Benaud , Taylor , Lawry , Nichholas :!(

Ganguly was fined some 5 of his match fees

After all he is from sub continent
What's that to do with it?

Slow Over-rates are very evenly penalised around the world IMO.

I know you are Indian but I think most people Indian or Australian would concede it was VERY VERY close no way nere what you are suggesting.

To my mind you could not see any shoe behind the line but there was still prehaps some uncertainty thus he was given the benifit of the doubt.
Benefit of doubt has to go to the batsman. Fair play to the 3rd Umpire for doing that.

Sounds very much like Butcher's 2nd stumping a few weeks ago, too close for the naked eye, and not even the 3rd Umpire can be sure - which is why for me you cannot rely on Video replays...

Can't recall Steven Waugh captaining a side with such a weak bowling attack.
I wonder if that's the reason he decided to give up at the end of the series - he can sense the side is losing some of it's edge, and doesn't want to sour his career with a poor end?

Was it a good decision or not?

Us over the other side of the World only get to watch it if they pay lots of cash to Sky!

This was different , on this the 1st camera angle was inconclusive , really couldnt judge it on that , but the second angle showed beyond reasonable doubt that he was on the line , you could clearly see a couple of centimeters of white behind his foot , it was out.
Yet due to the fact the 1st one was inconclusive Bob Parry gave it not out , and he added another 158 runs :!(

IMO the 3rd umpire shouldnt be used for catches , just no way of being certain & the benefit of the doubt always goes to the batsman.
But for run outs & stumpings I think it has to be used as 95% of the time in conclusively shows what happened.

I only saw 1 replay as I was busy but it looked a pretty poor one to me , some doubt but it seemed to clip the top of his pad , certainly bat didnt seem to be near it.

:D I now join the exclusive 500 post club.

*raises bat to pavilion*

You missed the best part of the day, eddie. Sehwag took on all the bowlers after lunch and it is worth watching it again. Try to catch the highlights :cool2: .

Ganguly and Laxman need to really bat well now to get India into a safe position. The last three dismissals were all due to poor shots. Dravid chipping it in the air on the leg side to square leg, Tendulkar getting a thin edge to a legglance and Sehwag hitting a full toss down the throat of long on. But Australia certainly deserved the luck after the luck which India got early in the innings.
