:O Ponting's third test double-ton in the calendar year. As far as I know, the only other player to do this is one D.G. Bradman in 1930. Lara should be up there too, but got out for 191 vs Zim...:(
Well done to Ricky anyway:P

Well done Ponting, Sehwag would've given u a company in the 200 group ,if he had shown some patience. Anyway, nice to see AUS playing in a typical test match style rather than their usual unwanted agressive(arrogant) style.

Definitely well done by Ponting. The guy turns himself into a legend with each passing day.:O

There was a time, a couple of years ago, when no Aussie batsman averaged over a 50. Even Steve Waugh had just 48 or so.

Today, they all average above 50, some even the high 50s.

The run rate's gone considerably slower, though...

By Aussie standards.. :saint:
3.79 , considering the pitch Im pretty impressed with that , its really slow , the ball not coming on at all so playing shots is very difficult.

This y I said earlier, neutral umpires are not always neutral when India asks questions.( I know many over here will disagree)
Always there had been seasonal heros against India(probably against all).
some of them r here
During88-89 it was Richie Richardson(WI) aginst IND.(he made 190s,227,156,99, 50s in a single test series.
It was jimmy adams in the middle1990s with same sort of performance.
Micheal Vaughen was there to perform in this way in the last tour of England. It was Treskothic when they came to India.
In 99, itwas Mark Waugh, then in 2002 it was Hayden,
Now it's Ponting...
so there's nothing new...

Rubbish , the Indians had quite a few let off's aswell & Hayden's one wasnt out.

In 99, itwas Mark Waugh
Mark Waugh was ordinary against India in 1999 , I think you mean 1998 when he made 153 at Bangalore :P

6/514

I note Amits has mysteriously disappeared
I think amit's absence has nothing to do with 6/514. it may be the consequence of Niel's warning (a few pages ago.).Probabaly he might have left CW.
:(
Amit, come back. We need ur agression on cricket issues.(to be frank, his presence was a real inspiration......)

When did all this occur? Mark Waugh's highest Test score is 153* as David pointed out, and his highest score in the '99 Indian tour of Aus was 51*. If you are talking about ODI's, his highest is 173, but that was vs. West Indies.

I didn't mention about India's aus tour, but the reverse (1998/99 season).
Yeah , I made a mistake by saying 177, I think I got confused with Jimmy Adams 170s with Mark. .( Mark was aus's hero in that tour. this was what I wanted to mention)

This is the best home series Ive seen in my lifetime , really in the last 10 years only 2 sides have come to Australia & even looked like challenging us , the Kiwis in 2001/02 & the 2003/04 Indians.

.
Now, Aussie may face more challenge from the young **** team and Srilanka( THey can do better than this Indian team against aus)
