Ya that explains. My reaction to Sanjay's commentary has gone from annoyance to liking over the past 1 year or so.
What I like about Manjrekar is that he seems to want to learn more about the game and gain new perspectives as opposed to most of the older guys like Gavaskar or Chappell who have their set "this is how it was back in my time and I refuse to learn anything about the way the game is played now".

Manjrekar started off around 2002-03 and since then he has actively tried to observe and analyse the game as it is played today and form perspectives on that rather than "oh back in my time in the 80s when I scored a century against Wasim and Waqar'.

Can you please specify what it is that Cook is doing different? It's a genuine question. I just hope it's not one of those vague stuff like "he is more positive in his approach'
Far less cricket by numbers, he takes more gambles and is quicker to take off the 2 senior bowlers when they bowl poorly (Anderson got 3 overs with the new ball in the 3rd test). Also as Spark said he is actually allowed/is captaining now rather than just standing at slip and waiting to be told what to do by coaches in drinks breaks.

The point is though, no one criticised Cook's captaincy in the UAE because he was captaining well and we lost. People criticised Cook's captaincy when we won Ashes and he was negative. I really don't think this is a good example of what you are trying to prove. Cook was to negative, he did need to change and has.

Oh I forgot about that. Was incredible how he'd bowl Anderson and Broad for 10-over spells, half-thought he was trying to shorten their careers

Yeah, that was a big criticism of Ponting's captaincy that he probably never shook off. Strategy was too often to bowl Johnson into the ground in the hopes he'd jag a couple then use Hilfenhaus to limit the damage.

Forget about Johnson, he bowled Lee to the point where he pretty much had to end his career.

Why is the match scheduled to start at 7:08 PM? Is there a 7 o clock news show or something?

The whole day there is one big event; it might have been delayed by eight minutes due to something else running over at one point.
Nah it's been scheduled at 7:08pm all along. Maybe that's for C9 to be able to do a short lead-in or something.
