I remember thinking around the start of the Ashes in 2013 that Australia were in a really tough spot with their batsman due to all the really tough fixtures they had. When Smith came back Australia's next 15 tests came either against strong attacks or in really tough conditions for an Aussie batsman, or even both. He was the only Australian to play all of those 15 tests and came out of the other end with a really good average from it and is now cashing in.Classic case of doing so well you devalue your own performances here, given that Smith has scored against literally everyone he's played in the last year and a bit
He's covered in the 'etc' along with Hague, Chandimal & Latham to a lesser extent..rahane
averaging 51 in 5th tests is good enough for meit'd have to do it by hand but I could probably do it later in the day
rahane could easily turn out to be the best of the lot so that's sillyHe's covered in the 'etc' along with Hague, Chandimal & Latham to a lesser extent..
you can even go back to the tour of india prior to that where he scored that 92I remember thinking around the start of the Ashes in 2013 that Australia were in a really tough spot with their batsman due to all the really tough fixtures they had. Imagine giving him stick for it. FMD.
Seriously though, the bowling he has faced this series will probably be some of the easiest he will face in his career. He's batted very well but I imagine many batsmen would have filled their boots in similar situations. Warner already has. Williamson, Sanga, Kohli, BMac, Rahane, Misbah, Chanders, Younis, and probably a few more would have racked up tons of runs too....
sour much?
think he was in the second part of his postyou can even go back to the tour of india prior to that where he scored that 92
This is minnow bashing; but that does not take away from past achievements.Never get this. Was him boping Morne Morkel over the sight screen at Cape Town not enough to discredit calls of minnow bashing?
Well in that respect there's nothing at all wrong with minnow bashing. It's a really valuable skill. This is minnow bashing; but that does not take away from past achievements.
Being part of the 'etc' doesn't demean him in anyway...FTR, I wasn't meaning Rahane & Hague belong to that next level down of Chandimal & Latham.rahane could easily turn out to be the best of the lot so that's silly
ok so I didn't include a) anything before his 09 Ashes comeback and b) a handful of 2 or 3 test series that were 1-0 going into the third test in which the trophy may have been secured alreadyit'd have to do it by hand but I could probably do it later in the day
Then why did you say with "Haque" Chandimal & Latham to a lesser extent..Being part of the 'etc' doesn't demean him in anyway...FTR, I wasn't meaning Rahane & Hague belong to that next level down of Chandimal & Latham.
In terms of style, Rahane, Bravo & Williamson are probably my favs, but haven't seen much of Smith to be fair. Don't personally think Root is that great on the eye.
We're playing the West Indies in between this series and the Ashes.Don't want Smitteh equalling Cook's captaincy record, so he'll have to make a duck in the first Ashes test. Sorry.
