Some average new ball bowling there. Was fearing a tough 8 overs that never really materialized.

Good partnership this. Was a tricky stage and had India got another wicket it would have been their day. Hopefully we can cash in tomorrow, unlike today where the batsmen have played out tricky moments but failed to convert into a big score. It's also likely India might lose the plot tomorrow and runs can come in quicker if their lines stray.

Honours even.

One of India's best days with the ball in overseas tests since around 2011; but even then it was fairly average. A massim improvement on being smacked everywhere at 5 rpo yet you dont feel they've bowled themselves into a winning position.

They need to bowl well again tomorrow. This could easily turn ugly for them, with Mitch next man in.

i almost feel for watson here. almost
Rogers stuffs up his running between the wickets nearly running him (Watson) out then throws his wicket away fishing at a wide one. He then gets a tight LBW go against him. Probably fair enough to feel for him if it
A) wasn't Watson
and B) He wasn't playing that sweep shot.

260/5 feels even enough but I feel like Australia has more ways to win from here.

First session was awful but our bowlers were way better in the post punch session. This partnership is annoyong and we really should've gone after Haddin immediately. Those few overs from Vijay were stupid. Overall not bad though... Big big improvement after that horribleffirst session .

I can't remember the last time we capitalized on a good situation overseas. Never fail to serve up some rubbish and squander any advantage.

Actually don't know hat the deck was easy to score on. Even late in the day a few were hitting high on tpc's bat and it seemed unless it was really full it wasn't easy to go down town. Credit to India for keeping it tight in the conditions. Australia will want 400 and if they get it they're in the box seat IMO.

Didn't see a lot of Joe Durt's dayboo. How did he look?

Strange to see that its honours even after a day where India bowled a tad too short. Perhaps neither of the teams were too aggressive.

The best decision taken by India today is to finally implement DRS (drop Rohit Sharma)

cricinfo said Steve Smith started it?
he kinda did i guess. I remember Shami bowler a poor short one which Smith pulled to the boundary and he said something (couldn't really make out what it was). Next ball he fends it back to Shami who throws it at Smith even though he was in his crease and hadn't budged an inch. Smith continues saying something and Shami has a word too.

As for the pitch, it is kinda hard to score runs quickly, unless the bowling is absolutely filth. Australia absolutely have to make good of this partneship and provided their tail wags a bit, 400 should be the minimum target.

Glad that Shami got a couple of wickets. I think he is a bit underrated in this thread. My personal perspective on him is that going into this match he had an average of 37. And that's exactly how good I think he is. Or possibly at a stretch a 35 average bowler. That is good enough to be India's 3rd seamer. Maybe India fans would disagree and maybe they desire to have three seamers with all sub 30 averages but there aren't many of those bowlers in the world.
