When we've just lost 3 wickets in no time, though?
Coming down the track doesn't automatically make it more risky (although it is seen that way), it really has nothing to do with the match situation either. Both Rahane and Rayudu like to go down the track, its part of their game, which means they are likely to succeed more often than not while playing that way. The only reason I criticize Rayudu is because his shot selected is much more limited than Rahane. With Rahane you still get the feeling that he can score at a reasonable rate without coming down the track every other delivery, whereas with Rayudu he gives the impression that that's the only way he can score.

Yeah. Rayudu strikes me as the sort of player who gets bogged down a bit and then goes for the big pressure release shot.

Why is Rayudu batting so outside his off stump? Ugh... India have problems man. WC prospects not looking good at all.

Ali's ability to be basically a proper front line ODI spinner in Aus conditions is such a bonus for Englands team structure. It would be great for their World Cup chances if they had any good batsmen to fill the other 5 spots.

D/L par score from here is 217 which sounds improbably low. More expecting 240-265 depending on how this partnership goes.

Seems like England will be favorites going into the chase at the very least.

I was thinking the same. There are one too many small problems which might hurt us. The squad has only 4 fast bowlers all of them who are injured/returned recently from injury or run the risk of being worn out after a long summer down under. Plus batting has been exposed in this series. Raina and Dhawan attempting to be casual isn't helping either.

Having said that it takes one good knock at the top to make things look stable. Plus if pitches start to slow down a bit in the late Aussie summer then that should be an advantage for India too. And as Jono said earlier, there would be some meaningless games in the group stage, and if we get through that without making a fuss of it then things might not look as bad as they seem to be now.

I've said several times that our batting struggles big time when Kohli and Dhoni don't fire. The thing is, they usually would always fire because they're ODI freaks. Good that Rahane is getting amongst the runs but i still think we're a tad too dependant on the two big guns.

Not a totally bad thing though, because it's giving guys like Binny a chance to show if they play proper ODI innings and not just death over slog cameos.

I think Rayudu is a complete liability. Can't wait to have Rohit back in the side. I reckon he could get 2 or 3 big scores in the World Cup

Rohit is the main guy when batting first for me. Really missing him. Also plays bounce better than most since he's a bit tall and has that extra bit of time.
