A ****load.

To put it into perspective, if we make 320 batting first we'd have to keep SL to less than 250. If SL scored 250 batting first we'd have to chase it in 36 overs.
Go Sri Lanka! :D

Edit: That being said, if we are batting second and can get SL out for around that would be perfect. Either Watto and friends would chase it down easily (ala India against SL in Hobart) or get out trying.

Assuming rain out today;
Aus would have to win by ~80 runs batting first, and by about ~15 overs batting second to get 2nd place.
SL are through with a win; to get 1st place they would need a win~200 runs and a chase in ~17 overs.
If tomorrow is rained out as well eng go on.

So a SA vs NZ semi is pretty set, while Ind vs (Eng/SL/Aus) still has many options.

Australia are going to find it very difficult to get through, especially with the weather around tomorrow, also, the shorter the game, the more Sri Lanka are in their element.

There's also the fact that SL made us look somewhat foolish the last time we faced them in seaming conditions.

Screwed by the weather then as if they hadn't tossed up there is no way you would have played Trott in this over Bairstow. Least there is a match of sorts but a bit crap it only glorified 20/20.

Sad sack at three allegedly. All NZ need to do is take an early wicket and let the ball tampering nonentity bat the whole innings.

You miss the SL game Scaly? Bopara's batting clearly not a problem currently.
Bopara at 3 is a problem IMO. Unlike Scaly I've always kind of liked him as a 6 or 7 in ODIs providing he was also bowling, but I don't think he's got the game for 3. Not as much of an issue given it's a 24 over game, but if Trott's not going to bat in the top three in this sort of game then he's just going to be pretty much useless so it's an odd call IMO.

We're not screwed by anything but our comphrehensive defeat to the Lankans.

Well that was an unexpected way to get out:dry:

Yeah Ravi at 3 is good, been in great form since he returned to the side. Trott to bat below Bresnan and Broad?
What he's hit a few boundaries off one over of complete rubbish and he's in great form. Form is largely an illusion any - in the case of sad sack he seems to be almost always in poor form... funny that.

As for Bopara batting when you need to get on with it - have a look at his epic T20I strike rate.

Look i don't like the guy either but he has played very well twice already in this series. You have to give credit when a guy deserves it and Ravi does this last week or so.

Bopara at 3 is beyond dumb.

I don't get why Trott at 3 isn't an issue in a 50 over game where he might not get in until the 30th over, but it's a problem in a 24 over game where he might be facing the 2nd ball.
