*Official* Fourth Test at the MCG

England opener hasn't scored of Australian opening bowler and its lunch. Harris so good. Even session considering Aus put England in, but looks a good pitch. Would have taken 71-1 after toss, however manner of Cooks dismissal is very annoying.

Even session? Nah, 1/71 is great if slightly lucky work.

Our session by a small margin, given that we were put in, but could very easily go back the other way with a couple of quick wickets after lunch, which - given the way Root's feet aren't moving - could happen any time soon.

Here we go again. Decent opening partnership showing all the "intent" we desperately needed, a wicket falls and we crawl along going nowhere falling one by one to a well below par score of 220 - 240.

Factor in run rate being very slow (as normal) and the fact Australia didn't bowl that well for about half of the session. Don't think Aus will be too disappointed.

England need to find a way of scoring when Australia attempt to turn the screw during the middle overs. They're so good at tying us down.

Yeah I'm not too miffed but 1/71 is hardly awful. Hard to blame pre-lunch batting for any post-lunch collapses, unless Carberry had gotten out there.

Harris went for 5 runs for the session.

Slater talking about Lee's first Test, "That was before you had any injuries."

Seriously?

Yeah I'm calling that session even at best from an England pov. Normally if you were put into bat and were 70/1 you'd say session to the batsmen for sure.......just doesn't feel like that here though at all.

If we'd have lost Carbs instead of Cook we'd probably be 90 odd for 1 here and I'd be feeling very happy. As it is with Cook gone so has the "intent", and if England are going to salvage anything out of these last 2 tests it was always going to rest on the shoulders of skip.......England needed him to lead this charge from the front. Cook will be absolutely gutted how he went out and rightly so, he talked all the right talk this week but it needed to transfer into a performance here and it hasn't.
