*Official* First Test at Trent Bridge

excellent test match overall. fantastic contest.

Broad's bowling at Lord's against NZ really helped to conceal the fact that England have been far too reliant on Anderson for a long time. Not that I think Broad should be replaced, but Finn has been horrible. I don't really think Bresnan would do much better. They really need Tremlett back, but failing that I think Onions is the best shout.
Thought Broad bowled very well in that last innings tbf, the pitch was horribly slow but he was very accurate.

Ummmm....good. You must've watched cricket at least once before.
Aha ok, remember to take off your tinfoil hat before you go to bed. Clear noise as the ball passed the bat (everyone knows you can take a picture that makes snicko look wrong, they leave the snick there for a few seconds so you just wait before you screenshot) and there is a mark on hotspot exactly where the ball passed the bat. Haddin looked guilty as sin (looked straight behind him, which isn't something he does often - prefers to stay staring at the bowler).

I can't believe with all the drama and associated pissing and moaning over umpiring that invariably surrounds these (or any big) contests that 99% of Aussies are accepting of a match-deciding decision based on a snicko and a sound well after ball passes bat

*shrug*

Guess I'll leave it then

CW's view on the decision is not the view on the general Australian public right now, I reckon.

It was a fantastic test, but the two widest discrepancies in quality were on display, namely between Swann and our spinners and our batting in general. I think the most worthwhile positive we got out of this game was a mental boost.

Finn is a bit of a dumbass bowler, much like Ishant Sharma. Tall, lanky with space to spare between the ears.
His bowling at Agar in the 1st Aus innings let so much pressure off. He almost cost us the match with his half track pies against Haddin too towards the end. Maybe he'll mature into a bowler that can bowl miserly spells when required, until that time maybe only pick him on fast bouncy pitches.

The noise and snicko were both late, haven't heard anyone yet claim they weren't

There's no vision of the ball actually passing the bat and making the hotspot...there are multiple spots on the bat

I have no idea what this has to do with a tinfoil hat. I'm providing an assessment of what I just saw in a match I watched as a neutral.

Ok, leaving it now.

Hmm I dunno about this. Swann looked pretty pedestrian for long stretches of this Test (and particularly today)
