*Official* First Test at Trent Bridge

Ultimately it was an awesome match and proves why test cricket is undeniably the best form of the game. Let's hope for more matches in the series like this one. (without the umpiring/DRS controversy) If so the series will be an absolute cracker

There are often multiple existing marks on the bat and the "inexplicable sound for no reason" happens all the time, I don't know how people can watch cricket and not know this. There's a lot of moving parts whenever a batsman plays a shot.

tbh I'm not sure exactly what snicko picks up and what it doesn't.

What is it with Australia and heroic but failing fourth innings chases? Border and Thommo, Lee and Kasprowicz, Hobart vs NZ, now this...
Yeah we suck nuts at it. Especially in recent times. so many of these agonizingly close loses.

Ah yeah that inexplicable sound. How could I forget about the inexplicable sound that always happens when the ball doesn't hit the bat. I've heard of that.

Third Test at the earliest for Warner apparently.

Which again is why suspending him from warmups was so ridiculous. Should've just let him play the warmups so he was ready to go and then suspended him from the first Test, given his suspension effectively rubbed him out of that anyway. The Warner situation is an absolute shambles.
Yeah so dumb

It's a bit harsh that how good that last ball from Anderson was has been lost in the DRS controversy. Classic off-cutter to find the edge.

Was a bit awesome considering the previous 16 overs had produced only one half chance when Finn dropped a tough running chance. Showed why he has 300+ wickets and will probably pass 400 at least before his career is over.

Nasser saying on Sky just now Warner's flight to SA likely to be cancelled.

Def chance, IMHO. Lehmann obvz likes a punt; Agar and all that.

Also note that Haddin should no resentment towards the decision and was anything but confident when it was getting reviewed. Aussie ****s to can it.

excellent test match overall. fantastic contest.

Broad's bowling at Lord's against NZ really helped to conceal the fact that England have been far too reliant on Anderson for a long time. Not that I think Broad should be replaced, but Finn has been horrible. I don't really think Bresnan would do much better. They really need Tremlett back, but failing that I think Onions is the best shout.

Well that's great news if true. It's hardly a punt though, Warner should def be in the team for mine over someone like Cowan.

Remarkable game of cricket.

Thank you England and Australia for this game. It feels great to be back at watching and enjoying test matches after the IPLs and CTs and what not!

Superb performances from Bell, Siddle, Agar, Haddin, Pattinson, Broad. My MOM : Anderson for his 10.
Well said. Great game of cricket. I'm surprised I didn't feel jubilation at the win. Just relief. This Test has tired me out. One of the greats.
