Right yeah but whatever your plan, the way you do that is by bowling constantly at him. Letting Clarke get off strike with ease is basically the opposite of that. The only chance of a win was to get Clarke cheaply though.
Yeah certainly. It's what I was saying beforehand though - the short-ball tactic to Clarke, while it might work, is extremely double-edged. The teams who have tried it in recent years have found it either works (like England have until today) or they get absolutely clobbered (South Africa - and what happened today), as if you get it wrong/Clarke fights it off, he gets set very quick and he automatically goes into a very aggressive mindset.Yeah the execution to him wasn't so effective though, Broad wasn't getting the angle right I suppose.
Strauss reckoned the match situation helped Clarke cope with it better though
Yeah I think Broad bowled one over after the rain then it was Swann and Tremlett. Found it weird given the 15 minute break and the fact that neither Anderson or Broad had bowled that many overs.EDIT: Looking through, it seems that most of what I'm talking about came off Swann and Tremlett. I guess Broad and Anderson were finishing their spells at the time...
Yeah he's reminiscent of peak-Ponting in that once he gets to about 25 you may as well give up, tbh, and hope he misses a straight one. Unless you have some irritating left-arm darter in your side...Yeah I think Broad bowled one over after the rain then it was Swann and Tremlett. Wouldn't be surprised if Cook just felt they'd missed the chance and Clarke was set. It was probably the case.
Cue the Mail refering to him as "that guy with the tashe"I exclude Warner from that praise because, hundred or not, being a complete dick is being a complete dick.
Got to admit, I quite like him.Well played again, Australia, completely monstering this England team. I exclude Warner from that praise because, hundred or not, being a complete dick is being a complete dick.
I don't know about that really. Warners comments didn't seem anything that nasty if you read the whole thing. The tweets are misleading... While his comments were silly, I don't think he went overboard or anythingWell played again, Australia, completely monstering this England team. He did when he took a swing at Joe Root last summer - pretty sure that is what is being referred toI don't know about that really. That behaviour was way more than being a dick... That was thuggish behaviour. Assumed zaremba was referring to Warners comments on trottHe did when he took a swing at Joe Root last summer - pretty sure that is what is being referred to
Shame one is now a Wankastrian. Is Overton in Oz, he's got pace to burn, could do with Compo coming back in, and a proper batter-keeper like Jos.
I do like to use England poor performances to plug Zummerset people.
