*Official* First Test at the Gabba

Anderson's such a liability in Australia.

Let's wait for just a little bit shall we? He's bowled very well at the Gabba. If he throws in a few more spells like this during the series then he's done very well. Wouldn't expect him to bowl this well the whole way through, but he doesn't have to. Just be consistent.

Don't think anyone said Anderson was a liability in useful bowling conditions.

Have really been expecting his shoulders to slump and to start bowling his typical dross. Have been very impressed with his attitude actually.
Well it's not like it's a featherbed. Bit in it for him.

He's bowled really, really well here. Easily the pick of te soap dodgers.

So you wouldn't want to see amazing sportsmanship like this?

YouTube - Adam Gilchrist infamous walking incident

I'm confused as to why you would ban it.
No, I did not agree with that. There are too many concerns around it. What if you thought you had hit it but did not. Could be considered as influencing umpires so that if you are a known walker and then don't walk as happened to Gilchrist after this, then accused of being a cheat even if you genuinely believed you were not out.

I don't see the issue with waiting for the umpire. Just removes the whole issue.

What issue though? There isn't one. I literally can't recall of a single problem that has arisen by someone walking.

Don't these are particularly that useful... I mean there's a bit around in the air and a few are nibbling off the pitch but remember before this series he supposedly never bowled wlel in any conditions other than thick, grey, typically English clouds.
Remember how he was smashed about by Tamim when the the clouds began to thin?
So we could only imagine how badly carted he was going to get in Australia 8-)

Whatever, going back to what I said before this series... this performance is something that the Anderson of 06/07 was genuinely incapable of producing. He's a completely different bowler nowadays.

And they keep saying you need wickets with the new ball. Well its come and gone ain't it and we've got jack all. Hard to watch.

Richie Richardson did in an ODI at the MCG in the early 80s.

It was back when the pitch was crazy low and slow. He went to pull one.. Hit him on the ankle in front of middle. He just walked off. See it sometimes on World Series classics. Piss funny tbh.
That was pretty funny that one.

I can think of a few. As mentioned above, there was an occasion or two that Gilchrist did not walk when he was out and accused of being a cheat. I am sure that Gilchrist believed that he was not out but it leaves a bad impression. Self-umpiring has no place in professional sports.
