So Aus have been docked 10 and England 19 (!!!) WTC points.

Can we scrap this entire embarrassing farce of a competition until they can come up a scoring system that's even vaguely reasonable?

ICC trying their best to make Ind vs Pak WTC possible.

The poor over-rates definitely impacted the result in the 4th test and almost led to a draw in the 5th Test.

The best bowler should be able to bowl his overs at a reasonable rate, regardless of situation. It's not unheard of for teams with 3 or 4 pacers to bowl 90 overs in a day.

We all know Ashes, BG, and any big test series is a lot more important than WTC. So it shouldn't really matter.

We are all well aware that WTC is a dumb format for a variety of reasons. Each test is somehow worth the same even though teams are playing different no. of tests each series. Plus not everyone is playing everyone. Format is far from being fair and reasonable.

If you want to improve over rates then bring in a bowling clock, the same way tennis and baseball have done. Not this farce.

I think the pretty obvious corollary to a bowling clock is that any delivery outside the time window is not a legitimate delivery.

Clock is invisible. Automatic no ball if the bowler exceeds the time (paused for review discussions etc., maximum of one stoppage for field change every 5 overs)

I don't mind the current system. The penalty needs to be hefty enough. Otherwise teams are just not going to bother with it. And if it's big enough to elicit change people are going to moan about it being too harsh anyway, just as you are now. Can't win.

The feedback would be instant and immediate. It would solve the problem rapidly the same way it has in those other two sports which faced the same issue for the same reason, and faced the same concerns.

If Australia hadn't had that insane 4/11 collapse in 18 balls, this match would have gone to the last few overs.

An easier solution is for umpires to be more vocal and make sure the teams bowl their overs in time! They could easily stop them from mucking around.

Good for England.

Draw should never have been a possibility given how fast England batted. It was only ever possible because of slow over-rates (& weather)

In total, at least 35 overs were lost due to poor over rates in the 5th Test!
