It's like he suddenly thought he had to go on the slog but... he didn't? What got into him there?
Like he might not rate Woakes and think it is sunny but he has bowled great basically whole series. I'd back him belting a tired Wood or Root who was probably due on very soon.

First innings runs when you are trying to catch up against good bowling are soft? Ok
What does it matter if you can't turn up in the 4th innings and get hundreds when it's often too late to salvage the game? Scoring in those situations is what separates the legends from the rest.

The true measure of greatness: how you do when you've been set 500 to win and you're already five down. Not win the game, obviously, but the true legends can slog a few.

Dry sir. Tbf Nathan Astle 222 fits that bill and was one of my all time favourite knocks and probably in most people's top 10 who saw it.
