*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

fair to say this guy relies a lot on bounce?
Yeah; his strength is really in his variation in flight from what I've seen of him before. Really tosses it up above the eyes and tries to do batsmen in the air, and then with extra bounce off the pitch from the trajectory he gets. He certainly doesn't subscribe to the standard spinners' mantra of "get it up and back down as quickly as possible", not does he put a lot on the ball or have a very energetic action, but he has an excellent record - that's why I compared him to SOK before. The cynic in me would say the three things he relied on most were Old Trafford, Division 2 batsmen and gravity, but bounce would be a close fourth.

To be fair to Kerrigan, he saw Steve Smith get two wickets in Northampton with rank full tosses #Ashes

he's got a similar OD record to sok btw
Yeah Lancashire don't pick him in limited overs cricket regularly; it's why so few of us have actually seen that much of him. Lancashire played a CC final (correction for GIMH: televised non-final season finale that Lancashire had to win in order to win the CC) a couple of years ago so I got a good look then but there doesn't seem to have been too much development in anything other than his reputation since that game. I mean, it's safe to assume he's usually a lot more accurate than this, but it's not even so much that he's bowling poorly (and he is) but that it's hard to imagine things being that much better for him even if he was landing it where he wanted.

The two overs before tea were delivered by a lad trapped in the headlights. Hope he recovers and this doesn't ruin him totally like what happened to Gavin Hamilton after his nightmare only test.

Surely Kerrigan will be thinking to himself: "Well if I come out and try placing the ball on the pitch from a standing start again it'll be ****, so I may as well try to spin one"

Need a wicket early after the break or it could go like OT. Watson and they still look vulnerable though, rest of the bats have scored 45.

He's exactly the kind of spinner Watson loves to murder, tbh. Slow, loopy, doesn't really turn it.

Kerrigan's been firmly parked so far, wait till he at least gets in first gear before writing him off.
