Rice getting all the plaudits (what a pair of free kicks btw) but watching that game I thought Partey was the guy bossing the proceedings.

He's one of the most underrated prem players of the last 5 years or so. Not many more complete DMs around and it'll be a big loss if he ends up leaving at the end of the season.

Well done, Arsenal. Tie a long way from over but that's an extremely nice lead to take to Madrid.

I hope not. Have a lot of time for Guehi but being left sided I think the only chance he's even on our radar is to replace VVD. Rather not entertain that idea.

On Glasner, I don't see him leaving for another English club, certainly not Spurs. I could see Dortmund or another UCL team tempting him though.

It's going to be a very interesting summer ahead. If rumours are to believe we're buying about half of Bournemouth's squad so that'll be cool I guess.
Bournemouth are the new Southampton

Saka deserves credit too. He was just unbelievable in first half.

Only agree with this because it's Real Madrid and Arsenal.

All credit to Arsenal, but I was incredulous at how bad Camavinga was. No much of that might well be down to Arsenal pressing but even so, you expect blokes at that level not to look like pub players on a Sunday morning!

Onana , sweet Jesus.

Its not like Bayinder is Van Der Sar, but it reflects quite poorly on Amorin how he continues to back this hack IMO.

Guy makes Barthez look solid. He gives me real James for Liverpool vibes. Always got a goal in him.

That's going back a bit!

The depressing thing about Onana, even ignoring the numerous errors, is how painfully average he is, you don't get the worldie saves that Barthez and even De Gea used to pull off towards the end of his United career.

So many goals he has conceded aren't comedic errors tbf, but so often I do think "a better keeper could have kept that out".

Then the hype about his supposed distribution skills, lol.

David James was far better than Onana is. He was an awesome keeper imo, if (admittedly) somewhat gaffe prone.
I'll hear nothing against James, he was superb at Portsmouth. All keepers have errors in them, they'll always get hyped up because they generally lead to goals. But Onana is just not a top level keeper, the errors he makes are so basic.

It's not just errors with Onana tbh. You could strip away all of the howlers and he still wouldn't be much chop, because he's just fundamentally not very good at the basics of goalkeeping.

Edit: though obviously the fact that he makes regular and severe **** ups compounds the misery.

Salah and Virgil both extend. 2 year deals. HERE WE GO.

Not sure whether to laugh or cry, our owners are trolls. Massive boost for the run home and going to be A LOT of buoyant Liverpool fans around now.

This feels almost as good as winning the prem. What a time to be alive 🥳

Dont know about vvd but have mixed feelings about salah. Feel this might be Mo's last season with 25 g/a s. Fear he might ruin his legacy. its because of mo And klopp that i became Liverpool fan but want him to leave at his peak

Surely you guys have to be more selective as to how you use both of those players in the next couple of years. You probably don't want to be playing them in the nigh on banker home wins either in EPL or in Europe. They ain't gonna be good for 50 games + per season from now on. I recall Arsenal did similar with Bergkamp in his latter years and still got loads out of him, but then again he didn't do away games where they had to fly.

Yes thats why we need left winger and a striker, cb and lb and dm. Heard we are going for kerkez and hujlison from Bournemouth. Hopefully buy some one like rafal leao and julas konde as replacements for mo and vargil

It's unequivocally great for Liverpool. The deal only starts in a few months and at 32 he's still one of the best players in the league. Maybe he falls off the cliff and becomes a passenger during the deal, but at two years the risk is so small relative to the reward.

You are looking at it the wrong way imo. Of course there will be a drop off, father time is undefeated, however even if its a 50% drop off in output you're never replacing those numbers with anything that's currently available or affordable on the market. Agree with Chin, we'll need to use both wisely (especially Salah) but the 2 year deal also gives us insurance in that when the drop off comes we can still sell him to Saudi and reinvest.

For me the biggest thing is what it means for the project and Slot. Selling LFC to any potential signing is made 100x easier when you've got Salah and VVD staying and reinforcing the ambition of the club to win trophies under this manager. Stability and continuity is key for any player we're looking to bring it - those conversations would be ten-fold harder if the big names are walking for free and we're selling a re-build from scratch. They are colossal leaders in our squad and everyone benefits from having them around to learn from.

Lastly, it also gives us another 12 months to identify, sign and develop their long term successors. We're not forced into panic buying this summer and instead we can focus on positions that need attention, such as LB and striker.

P.S I don't want anything to do with Oshimen, his wages or his agent. I'm coming around to the idea of Delap given the value his release clause offers. I see some parallels to Kane and think he'd be right in the FSG sweet spot (30-40mil) who we can develop long term. Partner him with someone like Cunha and that's good enough for me.

Perfect summer for me would be: Hato, Kirkez, Huijsen, Delap, Cunha, Cherki and Aina. None of those will be out of our price range except maybe Cunha. The big signing would potentially be someone like Gordon, but only if we sell Diaz. I'd like a developmental target to rotate with Salah, maybe Semenyo/Bakayoko but knowing the club they'll want a look at Doak and Rio.

I think we can get away with midfield provided Bajcetic returns and wants to stay. In terms of outgoings it's probably Tsimikas, Kelleher, Nunez, Quansah, Elliott, Gomez, and potentially Diaz or Jota.

Admela lookmen from Atalanta and Jarrod barthwhite from everton would be good replacements for mo and vvd imo
