Good point, even if I don't remember the first two at all. All I would add to @Pothas is that the 'ignore' function is a wonderful thing if another poster is not worth the time of your day.
Roseboy wasn't a terrible bloke, just terminally wrong on nearly everything.

Aussie made a thread saying he wanted to kill all "fags". Not quite sure how he wasn't permanently banned.

Lets talk about our battle for 11th. Although understand you might have some other more important game to focus on.

Moved to Liverpool?
Fair. That's a pretty miserable outlook haha.

I don't think I hate any player just because they play for a certain club. Terry was a guy that used to rile me up, so did Hazard, Zabaleta and Ramos.

The most recent one I can think of is Enzo Fernandez. On top of being a hatchet man, he's also a whiney racist grub.

Nothing really to do with the badge they wear.

:)

I for one will never tire of the battle for 11th. Six relegations from the top tier have seen to that. It's been a funny old season. If we'd done as well in the first 8 games as we've managed thereafter, we'd be pushing for a Champions League place, which would have been wild. But that does tend to be our way. As for the cup, who knows, Our record against Villa this season is pretty good, but they are a really strong side. And I think they were depleted when we 4-1'd them at Selhurst Park a couple of months ago. Winning the cup would be amazing, but all four SF teams are really strong. As long as City don't win it please.

The Palace boards I look at from time to time are already beginning to ponder who we'll lose this summer. Apparently Mateta is being lined up by Man Utd and Guehi is wanted by Liverpool. Eze is always considered a target for bigger clubs. And then there's the possibility of Glasner being being offered silly money to go to Tottenham. I suspect the last one is key. If Glasner stays, maybe the players are more tempted to do likewise. Is that a thing at Brentford too? I don't come across it, but obviously my focus is on Palace.

Beyond that, most of my spare time nowadays is spent on a project I've been writing since the turn of the year. I call it a 'book', although that requires me to finish writing enough to justify that term, and then little things like getting it published and sorting out copyright for the photos. I think I may have mentioned being given a book at Christmas about Crystal Palace's 'Team of the Eighties'; i.e. the players who twice won the FA Youth Cup in 1977 and 1978, won the old Second Division in 1979 and briefly led the old First Division in September 1979. Then it all went wrong and they were relegated by a mile in 1981. Anyway, the book that was supposed to be about them was terrible and I figured I could come up with something better, so that's what I'm trying to do. The club's official historian has been brilliant, really helpful. So has a friend of his who has copies of all of the Croydon Advertiser's reports on Palace's matches, which provides more detail than just results and scorers. The other thing I've tried to do is contact some of the players to ask for their input. So far I've managed to exchange pleasantries with two of them (Terry Fenwick and Ian Walsh) but they've not returned my questionnaires. So that aspect isn't looking very likely.

I'm very much enjoying carrying out the research and doing the writing. Obviously this book, if it does come to that, will be the dictionary definiton of 'niche', although there is a small market for it. I do promise that if it does ever see the light of day, you'll never hear the end of it.

Anyway, that's enough of your time taken up with this sort of thing. I hope you and yours are all keeping well.

Book sounds like great fun to do, keep us all updated on progress.

Oh yeah the 'who is going to leave' question is basically a constant for Brentford fans. Does actually get overplayed because we have not really sold all that many players since we went up, there are not really that many places these players can go. Having said that it seems to be expected that Mbuemo and possibly Wissa go this summer.

This season has been low key really good. A lot of pundits had us as relegation candidates but now it just seems assumed that we would always be mid-table. Just missing a couple of wins against the top sides.

Is it really worth the effort promoting out the EFL Championship into the EPL anymore?
I think you'd be disappointed if they didn't.
But maybe there's a case for 3rd from bottom in the EPL taking part in the play-offs instead of the 6th team in the Championship. Years ago, I think they did something along those lines.

They did and binned it when Middlesborough (then of the old 2nd division) beat Chelsea (then of the first) and it kicked off big time at Stamford Bridge.

What they should do is stop parachute payments, spread the money fairer that trickles down from the Premier League (larger handouts would be nice but that's clearly unlikely to happen) and then you'll see better run clubs gaining promotion who will be more competitive. Brentford and Brighton would be the obvious examples (I feel fairly certain the Bournemouth bubble will burst soon).

Southampton used to be a well run club, but now they're a cesspit and I sincerely hope they copy the Luton model when returning to the Championship (but that might be my own personal hope).

Message to @Molehill

You're a Portsmouth fan aren't you? I've just started reading Vince Hilaire's autobiography, obviously more from a Palace point of interest. But it is a lovely read. And I think you're old enough to remember Vince playing for your lads?

Oh absolutely remember him. I'd be interested to hear about his time at Portsmouth as he was key to bringing the best out of Noel Blake who suffered racist abuse from his own supporters (different times). Jeez, it's 40 years since those 2 were there, I feel old!!

I hope not. Have a lot of time for Guehi but being left sided I think the only chance he's even on our radar is to replace VVD. Rather not entertain that idea.

On Glasner, I don't see him leaving for another English club, certainly not Spurs. I could see Dortmund or another UCL team tempting him though.

It's going to be a very interesting summer ahead. If rumours are to believe we're buying about half of Bournemouth's squad so that'll be cool I guess.
