I don't think the Arsenal one was a red. It was cynical and pretty nasty, should have been a yellow.

That said, incompetent refs in this league is nothing new. I won't go any further with accusations until there's video proof they are corrupt and conspire against teams.

The only thing that can make it a red is if it was dangerous, I've yet to see an angle which suggests it was. It was the standard 'take one for the team' yellow, which players have been doing for decades. Why Oliver suddenly deemed this a red is bizarre, and for VAR not to correct it really does question their integrity.

My initial thought was that it was just a dangerous and bad challenge tbh. But having just watched it again it's not nearly as bad as it seemed to me on first viewing.

Whether it was "serious foul play" or "denying a goal-scoring opportunity", or whatever they call it these days, is pretty dubious though.

It is, but it is not as "stampy" as I thought initially. Still a bad challenge for sure, but imo the Joao Gomes second yellow was far worse.
