eh he‘s way better than Hughes as a manager. Newcastle owners dont seem to be like PSG ones, they have slowly loosened the purse strings and have so far shown more understanding of football to a laymanHe has credit in the bank for last season, they overachieved coming 4th so early in the project. There's no way he is the next to go with their upcoming run of fixtures.
I think there's alot of parallels to Hughes at City, he's the guy navigating their early investment but there will come a time where the owners start expecting silverware and they'll look around Europe for an accomplished manager who can take that next step.
In many respects I think the premature 4th place finish may end up being what hurts him the most, feels like they're running before they have learnt to walk. By that I mean they haven't really consolidated themselves as a top 6 side and now they're in Champions League and have a starting XI that most expect to be top 5 again. It's his first dabble in Europe too and he's landed in a tough group, although I think they'll get through it. Anything beyond the first knock out round would be a huge pass mark.
Where I predict they'll come unstuck is not having the quality in the squad to rotate and having to prioritize one competition over the other. If he tries pushing for all silverware available the extra mins in the legs will end up biting them towards the back end of the season. We saw it last season with Arsenal where they threw away the domestic cups to try keep pace with City and in the end the squad lost a few key playersver and they ended up with nothing. With how Newcastle started they are going to be chasing the top 2-3 for most the season
In any case glad they got the win over City in the cup - happy for pretty much anyone to win it now that isn't Man United.
Howe has also improved many players at his disposal beyond what they previously showed which is always a sign of a good manager. Conte was **** at Spurs, Mourinho hasn’t really done too much at Roma and Tuchel has not improved Bayern compared to what they were before. only Ancelotti has been good recently when talking about primarily trophy managers, the rage seems to be project managers and ones who are all about philosophy first which then leads to trophies and Howe is the best English version of it, having an English manager at an English club has its own perks
