I watched the LFC game so I didn't catch the NLD live, just watched a replay.
Few thoughts on Liverpool v West Ham first
- LFC struggled to start with, especially with Gomez trying to invert
- Matip best game in a LFC shirt for a very, very long time. Antonio was anonymous.
- Szoboslai close to motm again. He's on the shortlist for signing of the season
- Darwin was very good, caused Zouma and Aguerd problems the entire game both with physicality and pace
- Paqueta the best player on the field for either team. He was unreal, especially off the ball.
- Jones had a solid game, his ball retention is up their with the best in the league. Underrated player.
- From 60min onwards there was only one team in the game. LFC looked fitter and had far more quality off the bench
- Virgil has quietly returned to close to his best. Been very good so far this season in spite of the red card.
And on the Arsenal v Spurs game
- Van de Ven was my motm. What a signing. Vicario not far behind him, some clutch saves.
- Nketiah really poor all game, didn't understand Jesus being subbed off he looked the most threatening
- Arsenal better team for first 35min then Spurs got on top, largely due to Bissouma and Sarr
- Rice going off killed Arsenal's chances, drop off to Jorginho is scary
- Still no idea what Havertz brings he was a non-factor. Viera should have stayed on.
- Odegaard great in first 15min then anonymous. <65% pass completion and looked like he lost almost every 1v1 duel.
- Interesting that Son and Maddison went off. Ange has huge trust in his bench
- Spurs marginally the better team over the 90min but 2-2 was fair.
- Worth noting that Spurs had more possession, Arsenal don't look the same side as last season.
Really keen for Spurs v Liverpool now. Good test for both teams
Spurs have had the tougher games and being the home side should fancy their chances.. Liverpool will be happy to concede the ball and focus on transition and set pieces. I think it'll come down to how Spurs handle the Liverpool bench and how far ahead they are around the hour mark.
Liverpool have looked fitter than every team they've played against and have firepower so I think if its a close game Liverpool will most likely get on top and knick something late.
