When was the last time that the three teams relegated from the top flight all won promotion straight back up in the same year?
Not sure it's ever happened. All 3 lost important players, yet they're clearly far ahead of the others. But for Ipswich's crazy first half to the season it wouldn't even be close. Just hoping that Leeds can pip S*uthampton to the automatic and then they screw up the play offs.

Also worth noting that the 3 that came up still look most likely to go down. Has the gap between the Prem and everyone else ever been so big?

Meanwhile in League 1, a lovely set of weekend results. Despite announcing 3 season ending injuries on the same day last week, Pompey riding high!!

Agree on the general point about the chasm, but Leicester going down really shouldn't have happened so this was always likely (I should have bet @Niall on this point!). I'd not expect them to struggle next season

Agreed it shouldn't have happened. But they've lost what 4 of their best players and yet are still pissing the League, same happened to S*uthampton.

An eight goal turnaround from the reversed fixture can't have happened too often in the Prem era either.
A couple of years back Southampton beat Leicester in the return match after their infamous 9-0 thrashing. But I'm struggling to think of other examples.

Largest I can think of for Villa was a 7 goal turnaround vs Wimbledon in the '94/95 season across two memorable games for a young RIS: a 4-3 loss followed by a 7-1 win.

Given that Southampton also lost 9-0 to Man Utd but also only lost 2-3 at home, you could argue that is also an 8 goal turnaround...

The kind of records I like highlighting for them!!

The players Leeds lost were mostly the spineless ones whose lack of fight got us relegated to begin with. Current lot are way more bought in to the club project this season

Yeah, I think the other two lost a higher quality of player….Livramento, JWP, Lavia, Maddison, Tielemans, Barnes etc. But that did give them a lot of money too.

Same old same old tonight; it's like watching England vs Iceland every week. We're going down, and Hodgson doesn't have the first clue what to do about it.

Will be interested to see how Glasner does.

After we sacked noted thundercunt Michael Beale, Glasner was the one rumoured candidate I was decidedly unenthused by.

I don't have a strong view on Glasner either way. I know that his side won one of the European competitions a couple of years ago, but that's about it. And obviously the dominant sentiment right now is wishing Hodgson well and a full recovery.

West Ham ended up keeping Glenn Roeder an extra season and a bit when he had his heart attack when they'd probably have loved to have sacked him before he did

Worst kept secret is out - Tuchel leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

One of the front runners to replace him is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Delayed firings are such a ****ing mess. Great to see Bayern being run shambolically and giving the rest of the league a chance.
