But yeah we’ll see how Mullin does without the creator that made Grant Holt a prolific premiership striker.

He’s got all the attributes to do well in the National League but would have struggled in L1. And I can say this, having watched him play in L1 for us.

Went to Prenton Park tonight. First friendly I’ve been to this close season. First restriction free game for me since Accrington away in March last year and first at home since Bristol Rovers the month before.

so of course I got the kick off time wrong and so turned up half an hour late. Then there was nobody on the gate I was meant to go in and the steward just looked at us perplexed and said nobody is allowed in after 15 minutes. Walked to the other end and ticket scan failed because it was the wrong gate but thankfully he let us in anyway and then I watched a reasonable 0-0 draw.

Good to be back, anyway. Walsall at home a week sat will be ace but it’s the two away games in the following week I’m really hyped for. Missed it so much

We played Middlesbrough at home last Saturday. There were around 150 Middlesbrough fans in the away end. I think it's probably safe to assume that they were exiles who live a bit closer to Plymouth rather having made a 750 mile round trip for a friendly. Kudos if they did that, but I'd definitely be checking for a lobotomy scar.

I don't follow the EPL anywhere near as closely as I used to any more, but what are the thoughts on here re United re-signing Ole?

Most fans approve but I don’t think it’s a good move. I like him and he’s taken the club in the right general direction, but he’s average.

It's not what I would describe as a "brave choice" tbh. One of those situations in which you suspect the people calling the shots are aware he's not top drawer, but also feel he's not done poorly enough to warrant a sacking, and are too cowardly to Nigel Adkins him.

As well as this, I think a lot of the top managers are also either taken (Nagelsmann, Allegri) or unrealistic (Klopp, Guardiola). And publicly courting someone like say Diego Simeone would seriously undermine Solskjaer.
