If by the slime you mean PAFC I'm very confident that our current owner wouldn't have. In the days of Dan McCauley and Neil Warnock they would have been the Ferguson and Fry of the age.The problem here is Cov and the Slime would have probably gone legal if it had remained the same, and they have deeper pockets, both have already spunked tons of money up the wall. The EFL were ****ed whatever they did imho. Sorry GIMP but keeping clubs alive should be their priority, in my lowly opinion.
In the end, I think it is possibly going to be a redundant argument, as I see teams going to the wall, perhaps even Championship ones before next season starts, so just think it's all wasted energy, fighting anything, but we'll see.If by the slime you mean PAFC I'm very confident that our current owner wouldn't have. I'm still not sure the virus is done, and next season we could see the fans who are saying suck it up for the greater good being bitten on the arse. That's a separate point not related to anything grecian has said. Exeter have really gained nothing and we've been handed the Crown Jewels having hardly been in the top 3 for most of the season.
I don't kid myself that our fans would have been magnanimous had we been in Exeter's position. Pasoti is rank at the best of times. I'm still not sure on the first point. I guess there's been talk of mass extinction for so long that you tend to think it won't happen. In the end, I think it is possibly going to be a redundant argument, as I see teams going to the wall, perhaps even Championship ones before next season starts, so just think it's all wasted energy, fighting anything, but we'll see.
BTW there is anger on our messageboards that we voted for it.
I have always rejected the mass extinction talk as in the end, the crowds in lower leagues have actually been going up, the money we get from sky is nothing like Prem, but still in real terms, better than it once was, which was next to nothing, and Transfer fees going up gives a revenue stream. Not sure any of that is applicable now with COVID.I don't kid myself that our fans would have been magnanimous had we been in Exeter's position. Pasoti is rank at the best of times. This was our initial proposal. EFL wouldn't have it because reasonsWhy didn’t they just promote sides up but not relegate down for a year, then have extra spots subject to relegation next season?
yeah but those countries also had an FA that sensibly cancelled the season.Different countries and different laws, but France, Belgium & Netherlands have all seen the courts block their proposed nonsense outcomes btw.
What are these deep pockets you talk of and the money we've spent? The problem here is Cov and the Slime would have probably gone legal if it had remained the same, and they have deeper pockets, both have already spunked tons of money up the wall. Sorry, was just a generalisation, and mainly to knock Argyle, and I am bitter about play-offs, in the end though the point remains, court action was possible whatever happened if someone was pissed off with the vote. What are these deep pockets you talk of and the money we've spent?
If no one went up via the play-offs, it could be 22, 24, 24 (3 up from L2 but Bury out), 24, and so on. In other words the Prem goes back to its size in 1995 for one season, and every other division stays the same size. Seems almost comically workable. The no relegation thing was one of the first suggestions when the season was first in doubt. It would have meant instead of four divisions of 20, 24, 24, 24 you have 23, 24, 24 22. It would have totalled 93 for one season instead of 94 as Bury were gone and it was going to be 2 up 1 down at the bottom.
It's pretty straight forward on the face of it but only the bottom half of Premier League clubs would have voted for three extra teams.
Indeed. Even the legal challenge from Hearts will tell us not all that much given differences in law north of the border. But I suspect these decisions will make the EFL nervous should we pursue legal action.I wouldn't give up if I were them either, but let's not pretend anything can be learned looking at decisions made in French courts.
Yeah absolutely. My instinctive feeling is that there will be arguments that are at least potentially viable that could be made under English law, circumstances depending. My point was just that one shouldn't look to French law as any sort of indicator re: what might happen over here.Indeed. That wouldn’t be any better as you’re denying three promotion spots to help avoid relegations. The only workable for everyone solution is promotion as was intended and no relegation. If no one went up via the play-offs, it could be 22, 24, 24 (3 up from L2 but Bury out), 24, and so on.
