Allowing clubs to vote on play or stop the biggest kicker. I looked at the table and worked out who would benefit from playing on, and knew we were ****ed. What a way to go.

I spent serious cash over the last two years, and for what? Because none of it counts.

Glad it over but is it wrong to be laughing at Peterborough as their chairman is having a meltdown on twitter but at the same time feel sorry for Tranmere?

I Love how League 2 decided to completely end the season, BUT we'll still have play offs, so they haven't actually ended the season have they?

The fly in the ointment will be if the relegated team, stevenage or macclesfield, don't have anywhere to play next year if the National League can't start.
What happens then.

I am still not convinced Division 4 will start, I just don't see what will make it financially viable in August when it isn't now.

Same with League 1 to be honest. If fans aren't allowed in then it seems pointless to start a new season unless there is some sort of financial package to help clubs.

League 2 didn’t invent this. The EFL proposal was that if the season can’t be finished the tables will be decided on PPG with promotion, relegation and the Play Offs remaining in place. It’s the same in all three divisions. Leagues 1 & 2 voted to end now. The same could still happen in the Championship if the virus spikes again.

It’s also in the agreement that there’ll be no relegation from League 2 unless the National League can start next season. The only real question is whether Barrow will still come up to replace Bury.

The plan seems to be to start next season in mid September, but God knows how barring some unlikely TV deal meaning vast amounts of money for the lower leagues.

Any club who voted to end the season should be barred from the play offs for fairly obvious reasons

Which btw is pretty much every club in the L1 and 2 play offs so **** them

Returning to the real world for a second, I doubt there'll be any legal action once the dust settles. A handful of teams are unhappy and with a different system a different handful might have been unhappy, but whether there's any legal malpractice I rather doubt.

Agree, really, look I understand the frustration, and Exeter haven't done that well out of all this, we were pretty much-guaranteed play-offs anyway with a live chance of autos. Just don't think it was financially viable to go on, we'd see many teams out of business.

I have more sympathy with the void option, and I guess people who think that option is best tend to favour Tranmere and Posh, personnally I spent a lot of money on this season, and the previous 3 where we've been in the play-offs and thereabouts, and feel our progression deserves another shot at Promotion, but genuinely as I have said before ad nauseum, more interested in if we can remain solvent, with the academy that has given us such a financial lift intact.

and yes if we'd just been voided or just 3 up I wouldn't want us to pursue it, as we need plans for next year formulated, so this year needs to end

Honestly have no idea what sort of legal proceedings we'd be pursuing and how strong our case would be, but we've been sacrificed because teams can't afford to play. It will cost us £1m going down, not to mention the significant investment we did in the squad in January that we'd have been better off keeping.

We will see I guess.

The problem here is Cov and the Slime would have probably gone legal if it had remained the same, and they have deeper pockets, both have already spunked tons of money up the wall. The EFL were ****ed whatever they did imho. Sorry GIMP but keeping clubs alive should be their priority, in my lowly opinion.

Best bet would be to try and make a case that the EFL is a public authority and then challenge its decision in judicial review on the basis that it is procedurally improper/unfair imo.

May also be possible remedies in contract law, but their availability will depend on exactly what is said in the contracts between the EFL and clubs.
