Jonathan Wilson's head is so far up his own arse he could stick his tongue out and taste stomach acid. Pompous ****.

Don't you mean the players got themselves into deep water by getting booked so early? How can the referee "get in deep water" for doing his job?

This kind of thinking in cancerous to the game. The referee's should do their job whether it's the first minute or the ninety-first, the rules are the rules.
Im sayin the early bookings werent merited. Therefore every time there was a normal foul people were crying for a card. Hence why the pack of bellends who support united thought the psg goal scorer shouldve got a red before the first goal.

That's not really the argument you presented, but if you believe those cards weren't card-able offences then it's a different story. I didn't watch the game so can't comment on that.

That's exactly the argument i presented. Hence why the ref got himself into a pickle with the early bookings.

They clearly were bookable-offences though. All of them were at least as severe as the one Pogba picked up his second yellow for (which you yourself have agreed was a yellow card).

You should tell this to conference refs. Two footed tackles are a caution in the first half, a misplaced sneeze a straight red in the last 15

Yeah it ****ing winds me up too. Players getting away with obvious tactical fouls because it’s early in the game.

Like P Neville said here... he was way too fussy in that opening 20 mins... needless yellows handed out.

It is ridiculous that the timing in the match influences whether a foul results in a booking. I've never understood it, surely part of the point of rules is that they're enforced consistently regardless of whether it's the first or 90th minute of a match? EDIT: just seen DCYE's post on the issue. Just take this post as support of his view.

Often yellows are for an accumulation of fouls by the player or the team. None of the cards in the opening 20 mins on both teams were merited.

I don't know whether it's just that I've noticed more since Liverpool have been more consistently in European competitions, but fans at European football matches need to calm down. There's the above incident, the Liverpool-Man City bus incident, a Roma attacking a Liverpool fan into a coma in the next round, AEK Athens vs Ajax, that incident where away fans went rather crazy against Arsenal, getting into the Emirates's home section and attacking stewards. It's ridiculous.
