Props to the guys on here who said Everton were overrated.
They seem to have studied in depth the Martin O'Neill Guide To The Transfer Market.

Rule 1: Fill your squad with over-priced, average British players.
Rule 2: if in doubt, see rule 1.

So we have still not won a game in the league and I still feel pretty positive about this season.

Villa are crap. Great ground though.

Just looked at the table. They're doing an even worse job of being favourites than we are.

Whats making you positive? Under Aldo it felt like we were always in the position you are at this stage and I never used to worry. Ironically the season we did go down we were in a play off spot in september.

We are dominating most games, especially the two I have seen. Unless we start playing a lot worse then we will just have to start winning games at some point. Plenty of exciting young players who should only get better as well, will be selling Rico Henry for a lot of money in a year or so.

Still can't get my head around you being three divisions ahead of us. And Bournemouth four. ****s sake.

It is easy to forget how quickly things change really. Without Matthew Benham we could very easily have ended up where you are now.

Aye indeed.

Conference is there for the taking this season. If we don't get our **** together it'll be the biggest failure in our history.

Yeah it's not a terrible result and Stoke were quite impressive but it wasn't an encouraging performance. We just didn't quite look like serious title contenders. Need to be tighter at the back.
Lack of genuinely gun crossers is a huge issue, no wonder Jose wanted Perisic so bad. Valencia offers absolutely nothing forward while there is f all from the other flank either. Its very odd, Jose did not look to strengthen those positions.

Yeah his selection was too defensive. No need for Darmian over Blind or Herrera over Mata.

I can see why he didn't go for another RB. Valencia's been quality at RB since last summer.

Hopefully he uses Luke Shaw when he recovers.

Championship is such a crazy league. Looking at the shot stats it would make much more sense if you and Ipswich swapped.

Feel like there was a lot of money to be made betting that Aston Villa wouldn't be setting the pace though.

Valencia is one of those people have never rated properly IMO, was derided way to much a few years and over praised now. He is fine defensively but very average going forward. Allegedly they had an agreement with Aurier a bellend obviously, but for what Spurs stole him for he would have been an immense buy.

Shaw is class, but he is so injury prone, very risky relying on him that much.

Palace really doing themselves no favours. If they lose this surely de Boer must be in trouble?

I think his strengths are sort of in between defence and attack. He dominates 50-50s and he's a great outlet. You really notice when Darmian plays instead, because he doesn't have the pace, strength or engine to consistently threaten to get in behind. So the opposition get touch-tight to him and he can't receive the ball.

His end product isn't amazing, but it's a tough position to create from. There are very few players who could create more without sacrificing other qualities. But Aurier is probably one of them, and for the price Spurs paid I'd definitely have taken him. Even allowing for him being a ****. Other than that I don't think there was a major upgrade realistically available. Someone like Walker is a bit better imo but not by enough to justify paying 50m for.
