So there was nothing in the contract to say he could be dismissed with no compensation for misconduct, even with his track record, and what happened with Venables.

**** me, the FA spunking money away whilst the grass roots suffer again and again. No change there then.

Probably settled. Sounds like they probably didn't want to outright sack him and risk being sued for more.

Probably, but much better to give him a million and avoid a court case was doubtless the rationale - pathetic

Personally I'm shocked. I also went outside today and the sky was blue and the grass green, both equally shocked me.

Tbf to the FA, that's why they didn't give him the big job, because they couldn't have someone like that in charge...

Swansea actually looked decent last couple of games.
Yeah first I saw of them yesterday and they don't look like relegation material. West Ham and Stoke are the worst teams I've seen by far but at some point they'll probably sack their managers and rebound. Burnley and especially Hull have a lot of room to get worse.

Boro another dubious one. Looking potentially like the archetypal plucky team that doesn't get a lot of luck, plays well in patches, but hardly ever wins. Need to start picking up 3 points with some regularity pretty quickly or they'll soon find themselves in the mire.

Boro have looked ok when I've seen them. Sort of team where everyone's working hard and there's enough of a sprinkling of quality to see them through, like Swansea and Bournemouth. Still could go either way though.

Yeah, they've been fine when I have seen them as well. They just strike me a bit as potentially being one of those sides that are nice and competent and everything but just don't win very much. Kind of like the football reverse of one of those batsman who isn't particularly flashy, but when you look up at the scoreboard they've scored quite a lot of runs (i.e. you look at the league table one day and realise they've very quietly crept very dangerously close to the foot of it).

Yeah I actually think Swansea are a lot like this. It will probably be enough though, usually there are at least three worse teams about. Sunderland might be in the Villa/Newcastle position this year, where their usual level of shite can't match the steadily increasing quality of the promoted teams. Though tbf Hull are the worst promoted team in years.

****ing terrible result because Stoke were just as bad as they've been all season, but at least we played well.

Reckon Ibra's in the first 5 minutes was much easier, although tbf it was an incredible save. Really should have scored 3 or 4 at least.

BARNES OUT
Yeah your boys have been far from convincing but we're due an average performance (looked like we were gonna have a stinker last night but dominated the early parts of the second half). I haven't looked it up but I feel like we have an awful recent record at the Lane. We got smoked there last year iirc. Iunno, I never like facing Tottenham. Always a tough game.
Here comes the October slide for City.
ayyy fam.
