Why send Gabriel off then? An innocuous flick at him when it was obvious Costa was dragging it on. Could've easily just given a final cut it out message.

He missed it and went on the advice of his linesman, which meant he couldn't go with his own interpretation of the kick, which would probably have been more sympathetic. Gabriel was stupid.

Would if he played for a smaller club like West Brom or Norwich but the big clubs rarely get pulled up on stuff like that.

Rooney was never the best number 10 at the club, and I love that Martial is already making sure he's not the best number 9 either. Still won't get dropped, mind.

I'm a lot more sceptical about Mata at 10 than most United fans. He's not as good there as you'd expect, not as good in tight spaces as someone like Silva or Ozil, because he doesn't have that little burst of acceleration. Great first touch but doesn't instinctively turn on receiving the ball like the Dortmund's 10s. Because his long passing is so good he'll tend to drop deep from 10, which isn't what we need at all, and when he played there at PSV we had problems when we lost the ball.

More importantly his output from RM is probably the best in the division, I definitely think he's underrated in his current role.
