BARNES OUT
Alyson Rudd said on the Game podcast a week and a bit ago that the return of de Bruyne was inconsequential and that he was a flat-track bully. Says all that needs to be said about her ****ing awful opinions.

Zlatan's definitely a flat-track bully though. The unfashionable English pundits were spot on about that, right up until that friendly changed their minds.

When you're drunk as, the goats have lost, and then your daughter asks if you'll take her to Eastleigh away next week. That's the **** that ****ers.

Who is this Alyson Rudd anyway? Obviously can't be a patch on Mina Rzouki. I've warmed to the latter a lot over the last few months, even if she can be irritating.

After you wrote off Braintree pre-season, I'm hoping they can deny you a play-off place.

Losing away at Eastleigh would be a nice start.

Braintree have been the success story of the season for sure. Between them, us and Eastleigh now you'd think. Though Grimsby aren't home and hosed yet either.

Citeh did really well to create such a dull game tonight, the Fernands did a great fouling-DM job. Same as the Kiev game, it's exactly the type of second leg they wanted. I think the lack of atmosphere at the Etihad actually really helped them out. Liverpool won't be able to pull off such a disciplined performance against Dortmund because the Anfield crowd will expect them to attack.

Basically, the exact opposite of everything Steve McManaman said for the first 25 minutes is true.

If you're judging by Ronaldo/Messi standards, sure. But those guys are superhuman.

It's not a particularly outstanding record in CL knockouts, but no worse than say, Henry, RVN, Villa, Benzema (players of similar caliber) etc. And he's been getting better in recent years. Also scored plenty of big goals for Sweden in important games.

Ronaldo is really incredible, what more can you say about the guy.

Leicester City midfielder N'Golo Kanté "will probably" move to Arsenal this summer. [@henrywinter]

David Dein confirmed that Wenger had a minimum of £30m to spend every summer after Ashburton Grove move. [@henrywinter]

How much credibility does this guy have? Interesting if we didn't actually have to sell to make ends meet all these years.

The fact that he's still maintaining top level at the age of 34(35 soon) is a feat in itself.

Cant believe City made the semis though ffs

If Juve had won the Sevilla game,we'd be sitting in the semis now instead of them.

Henry Winter is pretty well known/credible but I just have a hard time believing Leceister will let him go after getting him only this season. Would take a huge bid I guess. He's 25 though.

If I'm not mistaken, Kante has the most tackles+interceptions per game of all players in the top 5 European leagues.

 he's probably the opposite. Well, he regularly is either assisting or scoring regardless. One of those big buys City made you knew would definitely come off, and right away. What a player.

Why would Kante take a step down anyway?

David Villa doesn't belong on that list.

Zlatan is what he is. He's worth maybe 10+ points a season because he stops teams from dropping points against bottom half teams. So his record at winning titles is ridiculous. But he's only ever been bad in big games.

Blind "will struggle against Tall Player X" is our equivalent of "Mertesacker will struggle against Fast Player X". Constantly referenced by pundits despite having literally never, ever happened. [/jinx]

Kante seems an odd link. Won't happen.

Would be surprised if the latter one was the case. The fact that Wenger has actually adjusted his transfer strategy over the last 2-3 years suggests the situation isn't the same as it was in the years before that.

Edit: Quite famously Neville said that Arsenal had only spent "£9m net in 10 years" in 2013. Last time I looked our net spend then is over £120m.
