Was it you or Marcuss who said I was wrong when I said Santi should be playing in a deeper role?
Definitely not me.

City's record against the top-8 is just appalling this year. Us taking 6 points from Leicester is pretty much the only reason we still have a title race.

North London Derby will be huge. Still not overly convinced by Spurs but fair play

Just saw the Barcelona goals. They're playing a different sport, aren't they?

That Spurs penalty was a bit ridiculous. It wasn't even clear he actually handballed it (probably did) but to call that intentional? They are a good team but they were in a shell and made almost nothing. Good win for Arsenal too.

Liverpool looks good when Sturridge is fit. Unfortunately, that's not common.

Red cafe when Welbeck scored was great too. Then you had all the celebration police about beating 10 men Leicester.

I had a mate text me to try and say it was like the Liverpool fans and players when they equalised against West Brom. I said drawing with a midtable rival is different to winning a game that keeps your title hopes alive and if that game had stayed as the half time score they would have been over in all probability.

Some people don't get it do they?

Danny Mills said:
"I will always remember him(Pires) as the player who, in my view, really brought diving into the English game; his habit of throwing himself to the ground without any provocation always infuriated me."

Haha, Mills really is a bitter ****. He is right that Pires possibly was the first to really get attention for diving. from what I can recall he was one of the first to be hideously blatent with it. Obviously Ronaldo and Young have followed suit, but it does make it hard for a non-Arsenal fan to appreciate his skill when all they can remember is his flailing attempts.

Quite right, they're a nonsense.
Well maybe in a 700 team competition the fact that fewer than ten per cent of the participants think that should matter.

They can be in a pain in the arse. We had to play Lincoln twice in four days and lost GTF to injury for a month in the replay. You don't want that extra game

But the potential revenue gains from them for clubs outside the Prem/Championship is just enormous. I mean Grecian and Pickup are probably fond of them. And so many classic games have been FA Cup replays.

But obviously we should shelve them because it's inconvenient to the big guns' glorious runs to the CL Last 16 and clearly they are the reason for England's five decades of international failure.

I mean, I like the League Cup, gave me the best days of my life, but I'd sooner that went than the FA Cup was bastardised further.

Ah, modern football.

Very well said sir.

btw, and nothing whatsoever to do with this thread, but have you any idea what's happened to brumby lately? I haven't seen him post for ages.

Been around sporadically, just the odd post here and there. Place is poorer for his absence.

I'm a bit unsure on replays just because of the situation you get where it's better for a lower league team to earn a draw and get thumped at Old Trafford rather than win and go through. I also would think extra time and pens would vastly increase the chances of upsets too, rather than playing a full 90 minutes a couple of weeks later. You'd have to find a way to compensate for the reduced revenue of the lower league clubs if you were to scrap them though, and other than vastly increasing prize money I can't really think of one though. Regardless, the two legged league cup semi finals just after the hectic Christmas schedule are the biggest farce of the English fixture list. Deal with them first.
