Such an awful Arsenal lineup. This is going to be painful.
Ozil being injured might be a blessing in disguise tbh. Better he misses this game and Arsenal lose than him play and end getting his ankle smashed, as you could pretty much guarantee Stoke would have specifically singled him out for their "treatment".

Man I love winning at Liverpool in games where we play badly. I feel like 'can't finish, can't defend set pieces' was a big problem for Rodgers too. Four men on Fellaini for the goal and he still wins the header, Rooney left completely free.

Think Buttland made the better saves, but Cech made more, but yeah, the 'keepers being joint MOTM, sums it up really.

Arsenal fixture list after February is piss easy and should be a few players back by then. Think we'll finish strongly, just have to not fall behind too much by the end of February.

I think you are possibly better placed than City. They seem to have no idea when Kompany will be back and he is important to them and they rely so much on Aguero that if he got injured they may be stuffed. Don't think Arsenal are as reliant on one or two players as City are. Not looked at the respective fixtures of both sides but leaning towards Arsenal at present.

I'm beginning to think this Kompany thing is just a red-herring. Look defending in the Premiership is different to other leagues (I'm not saying it's better than other nations, it's just a different type of defending), if you don't play you wen't get used to it. Otamendi is improving greatly, Mangala has talent, needs games when he's fit too. Yes ideally you don't want DeMichealis there, but TBH he's servicable at times.

People forget the likes of Stam struggled when they first came here.

Kompany was pretty poor last season too, which seems to be lost in the new narrative.

Yeah said it before but it is all about Aguero. You got to say that him staying fit for the rest of the season is fairly unlikely, but if he does City win the league.

Similar things to be said about Arsenal probably. One rather feels that if they are to have a chance they will need Sanchez and Ozil to remain (or get) fit and firing for the majority of the rest of the season. And for Aguero to be injured.

At what stage do people talk about Leicester as genuine contenders?

Am aware there has been a noticeable drop in performance and output over the past month but they are still there...

Have $10 on them to be champions fwiw. Proceeds to go towards a children education fund. Making the little ones Leicester fans for life, one by one.

I still don't think they have a chance. At the minute they're second, so to actually win the thing, sustaining the incredibly high level they've shown up to now probably wouldn't even be enough. They'd need to get even better, and their injury luck surely can't hold.

Yeah, this is the thing. They're currently on course for 76 points. Last time a side won the league with that few points, I was 9 months old. The expectation is that one of Arsenal or City will win the league by going on a really good run of form and end up with 80 or so points, so Leicester would have to actually improve on their results so far this season, which you'd have to imagine is basically impossible. Of course, it could be that neither Arsenal nor City improve, neither got 80 points last season after all. But that's two pretty big variables that aren't in their control which would have to go their way.

Actually just checked and at this exact stage last season (same date, same games played) Southampton had 42 points, so only 2 less than current Leicester. They finished 7th with 60 points.

To me their on a bit of a downward curve at this moment, don't think either of Vardy or Mahrez have scored for 5 games, and their win against Tottenham was really jammy. City look on an upward trajectory with Silva and Aguero looking back to their best, and I think in a month or so we'll see Arsenal start to look a bit better too.

Top four is properly on for them though, although last weekend was a really bad one for them, dropping points in what should've been an easy fixture, and United winning what should've been a really hard one.
