Always wondered what racist soccer fans think of their own team's black players. Just baffles me.

They'll be one of those rare exceptions that doesn't conform to whatever stereotype they've assigned.

Same way people get all up in arms about people on benefits etc until it affects them/someone they know. Then it's 'ah, but he's not like those other scroungers'

When Burgey came the match with me (he paid OAP price) I was embarassed by one of our own fans shouting, "don't you ****ing kick Goodison you dirty n-word" at one of the opposition players

Just read this (who the **** are you to question what I do at 5am on a weekday). Amazing that they admitted they effectively prefer the Emirates tourists to young locals who make a lot of noise. That's crazy.
Of course they do. Someone who goes every home game at Anfield/Old Trafford/Emirates etc isn't going to buy anything in the club shop. It makes business sense.

You can't begrudge the guys who travel halfway round the world just to see one game though.

Gerrard was on the ITV coverage or something I think.

Haha, and yeah, he did the same thing in pre-season and then missed it. So at least this is maybe a step forward? ;)

Can't believe there are ever disputes about how takes a penalty. Whoever is the designated penalty taker on the field takes it. That person should've obviously been Balo though.

I know, I was watching it. Gerrard was fine.

Nah, if someone is that confident that they grab the ball you let them get on with it.
Well, that's the stupidest thing I've heard in a while. It's also irrelevant. Henderson was confident too. The only reason he let Mario take it is because he didn't want it to become even more embarrassing to have players fighting over the penalty. Mario only cares about himself.

I don't care if the ****ing goalkeeper is the designated penalty taker. What Mario did was a disgrace.

Rodgers has basically spelled out all season that Mario hasn't been training properly nor trying to fit into the team concept. And now he does this when it is clear that Rodgers has designated Henderson to take the penalty. This dimwitted **** thinks he'll override the manager and disrespect the captain because he likes taking penalties.
