*Official* English Football Season 2014-15

Result makes no difference to Liverpool and I suspect they will probably beat Basel (though no shoo-in as Sledger says) but tbh I thought the performance was pretty poor again and conceding yet again from a set piece and not winning yet again can't be good for confidence either.

Was surprised that the post-match reaction in the studio was largely positive apart from Souness. There wasn't much different tonight than there has been in the last two months IMO.

I thought it was all going quite well (despite the Mignolet error) until the last 20 minutes, when we were crying out for fresh legs.

Ha, just seen that Arteta is apparently out for a considerable period also.

What's that you say? Another Arsenal season in which the entire team is beset by injuries? Surely not.

I really cannot see why Wilshere is rated. I never watch England games; maybe he is outstanding for them.
I was thinking earlier today that he's one of these players who seems to play better for England than he does for their club actually. It might just be because a lot of England's games are against opposition that can be described as absolute doggerel, but still. He's certainly picked up a tag as one of Arsenal's "big" players, but the team tends to play a lot better when he is not in it. I'm not even sure what he's meant to be these days to be honest (i.e. whether he is meant to be a more advanced or deep-lying player). Hasn't kicked on much since his first real season in 2010-11 (where he really did look good) for mine, and has well and truly become another "sick note" type player.

Yeah, his Ankle is particularly dodgy which causes recurring problems and at the moment his injury issues will prevent him from achieving his potential.

Yeah Wilshere is just useless. Hasn't been good since before his original injury about three years ago. Still has some potential, but not a huge amount.

No more worrying about how we're going to fit Jack and Rambo in the same team. Desperately need a couple of midfielders, Arteta is 33 and broken and Flamini is 31 and is rubbish. You just know Arsene is going to find a way not to (ie Diaby is back etc).
