It wasn't for last year ftr. It's estimating that our wage bill is now higher after the summer's transfer window.

The Guardian football weekly mentioned it and I'd heard it somewhere else before that. Think he might've tweeted it or said it in an interview.
First started seeing it being shared by Mackem friends from their Sunderland supporting sources, so I don't particularly hold it too true TBH. The media have been sucked in by twitter 'sources' enough this summer...

That's still pretty insane. I'd sort of assumed Chelsea would need to be paying huge wages to get away with dominating the market this summer.

Dunno really, hard to get excited about it for me. Being asked to just host the odd game makes it all feel a bit clinical. Since it's just the odd match I couldn't really care less where it's played. It'll be over in a flash, no lasting atmosphere etc... I'm just not a fan of the whole play the tournament in lots of different countries at the same time thing tbh.
Mind, if England or Germany had wanted to host this in the first place, we wouldn't have this silly idea...

Traore is gash.

Enjoying this game tbh. Both teams are obviously TEH PHYSICALZ, but there's been some good skill too.

**** me you English are a bunch of ****ing spoilsports.

"Meh we're only getting the finals of the second biggest tournament in world sport, I'm thoroughly underwhelmed."

Joke of a country.

QPR just a bunch of overpaid lads, really. Can only assume Caulker is on a buttload, he's way too good for them.

The weird thing about Arsenal is they run an almost communist like wage structure. When RVP left he was on about £90k a week, which was about £30k more than Andre Santos, Park Chu Young and Nicklas Bendtner about £30k less. It does show the change in our transfer policy from 2011 towards buying older players instead of young ones.

We don't qualify automatically and it's just another event in London

Delighted we've got a few games in Glasgow, shame they're at Hampden instead of a proper football ground like Ibrox though.
