Agreeing with Marcus. Was a loyal player for the best years of his career. Getting his pay day and a bigger chance of medals is not something I would begrudge him. All the best Bacary.

On a related note, why are fans so prone to rating their own full-backs higher than anyone else's? I doubt there's an Everton fan in the world who doesn't think Baines>Sagna, but to Arsenal fans it's "laughable". I don't think you'd get that kind of discrepancy with strikers or midfielders.

Nah, he's a good player, very good in fact. Not one deserving of a fee in that region perhaps, but good nonetheless.

It's been said before but he's a better midfielder than defender. I think he is a good player but there is no denying that it is crazy money. They don't seem to care about FFP at any rate.

Because good ones aren't as obvious as strikers or midfielders, so the ones you watch all the time you get a better understanding of how good they are. People also tend towards stereotypes, so for that reason Arsenal fans who watch a good player like Sagna every week will naturally rate him more highly than others, many of whom won't rate him because Arsenal have typically had not great defences in the last decade. With strikers it's so much more obvious as the good ones just score more.

Yeah it looks way too expensive. His physical and technical abilities are insane but there's just no position where he's one of the best in the world. Would probably be best suited to playing CB in a team that presses from the front. I'd say Barcelona but their pressing game has been slowly going to **** since Guardiola's last season.

They're paying more for the Silva-Luiz CB partnership than Luiz himself, though, I guess. And given he always looks much better for Brazil than he does for Chelsea, it's not a totally unreasonable move. Will probably end up playing between Thiago Silva and Dani Alves too.

Mind you, it is David Luiz. So anything upwards of £25m is steep.

If it means PSG get him instead of Hazard then this upsets me. Or are they still just ignoring FFP and going to get both?

Yeah I mean clearly watching him every week means you can judge his quality better than casual fans. But the same applies to everyone, and they all (myself included) seem to think at least one of their full-backs is under-rated relative to all the others, so it still doesn't really add up.

The great man released from Arsenal. Would actually be a decent pick up for a newly promoted club. Can see him at QPR with his wage demands.

Yeah, this is a strange phenomena. TBH, as crazy as it sounds (because of how often his defensive side is rubbished) I think Glen Johnson is actually a very good full back (he didn't have his best year last year) and when he is in full flight he's actually brilliant. He has his moments where he makes the wrong decision and is at fault for a goal but there are umpteen more times where his speed and tenacity bail out one of the other players. But I bet most of the neutral fans probably think he's a liability on the defensive end when he really isn't.

50 million for Luiz. PSG are crazy and not bothered about FFP at all.

Now what they do with Marquinhos ?

Heard it makes no difference to FFP because we're still in 2013/14 so it won't go towards the next one. Hopefully that's wrong though.

That doesn't sound right to me as the transfer won't actually go through until whatever day it is that the window officially opens
