I think the average £ just tends to be a few months out of date. Liverpool were insane value earlier in the season too, 3/1 away at Spurs in December. Southampton were generally great value the season before. I think there's money in quickly spotting when a team is much better or worse than they were the previous season.

I think Atleti were such insane value here because it's not just that they'd improved this year, Barca have got worse.

Dunno about Betfair, but most bookies would also be factoring in what has been put on for the title and what they can stand to lose, etc. Wouldn't just be that game that they would be worried about.

I'm sure they'd like to, but they hardly have any room for manoeuvre when it comes to match betting. Betfair exercises a lot of control over the odds everywhere else because of no-arbitrage.
