As much as Stoke deserved their draw today, the ref bottled it. Woodgate should've been off in the 1st 5, then gave a tug on Berbatov in the box later.... Also fair shout for handball towards the end, which Owen was comically given offside from.

Was that in the second half when Berb just threw himself onto the floor?
Thought the Owen decision was fine, he was offside and it was ball to hand. All inconsequential though as Imogen Thomas should have scored at the death but he blew it
Stoke were good value for the draw. Crouch had a great game, both he and Waters gave Rio a good working over.

Watched the City-Everton game yesterday and City look like a title winning side to me, Everton were all out all game just to try and keep it level and stay in the game yet City hardly got out of 2nd gear and still won easily. The depth they have is unbelievable and surely they should concentrate on winning league this season and just using Champions League for experience this and kick on again in that next.
Nice to see a different side up their challenging for once, even if it only because they dropped lucky getting a rich owner. Could easily have been Everton/Liverpool/Villa/AN Other who were bought by this lot. Still amazes me nobody has bought a club like Everton with all their history.

This. We already had a good academy and a top level stadium, Everton have neither and the amount you'd need to invest to get to where City are now into a club like Everton would be significantly more. That said, David Moyes would surely spend his money better than Mark Hughes ever did.
I know it's a broken record but Leeds would be a better option than Everton, single team City, a club with a good history and a decent enough stadium.

Hughes actually spent his money pretty decently at Blackburn, at City he just didn't seem to grasp that there were players other than the average players who would have been good signings for Blackburn.

He does deserve some credit for Vincent Kompany, though I guess you could take that credit away from him because he played him in central midfield his whole debut season.

I dunno about the logistics of their academy and whatnot, but the Toffees do punch their weight in bringing the youths through at least. Obviously Rooney's a product and Rodwell and Barkley are both nailed on future England players.
Hibbert & Osman both came through the ranks too.
Might be an "in spite of" rather than "because of" dealy tho.
Boned without a move from Goodison tho and Kenwright doesn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of, camparitively speaking. Moyes consistently works miracles with one hand tied around his balls.
IMHO it was the new stadium and the "Manchester" brand that made Citeh such an attractive investment*. Throw in the fiercely loyal fans (still regularly pulling in 30k when it the third tier) and a lot of good wishes from non-ManUre aligned fans on the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing too, I guess.
*I say "investment", but it's really more of a rich man's hobby on a ****-off huge scale, really because the vast majority of the money put in will never generate a return.
