I remember it pretty well. tbh I never liked them at the time - no real reason, but I quite liked Leeds and was gutted when they kept missing out. The one Arsenal player I did like at the time was Ray Kennedy, which turned out to be pretty fair judgement for an 11 year old. Eventually another sad tale of course, but he was one heck of a player.
Yeah, was our top scorer in the double year. Only 19 too. Big strong bull of a boy.

Pretty sure he scored the goal that won us the title. 88th min @ White Hart Lane. 1-0 to The Arsenal.

Seen it so often I actually think I was there now.

Yup, it was Kennedy who scored that goal. He scored some wonderful goals for Liverpool of course, after Paisley put him on the left side of midfield.

tbh I hadn't realised he was still alive, but I had a quick check earlier tonight. Apparently busy raising funds for and awareness of Parkinsons Disease.

FWIW it's a stupid rule, a really stupid rule
Dont really understand the governing body's attitude to this or additional refs or video referrals

It's as if they hope all controversy will be over in milliseconds and not debated ad nauseam

Surely the world's most popular game should move with the times?

IMO, Juve result sheds an even worse light on Chelsea's performance

On that note, cant be many worse value-for-money supposedly superstar players than Ballack

Had a lot of time for him pre blues but he's been distinctly average for ages and certainly didnt warrant a contract extension/upgrade

Oh I agree. You can appeal a decision the ref has made and had it overturned. But if the ref sees it and misjudges it...you get away with it

Wow, fulham, decent winning goal too, if it turns out that way.
Given that Juventus are missing half a dozen first choice players, then this result doesn't surprise me. I called it a few days ago, and said it would be worth a punt on Fulham. As much as it will kill them, Juve, AC Milan fans will be cheering on Inter in the Champions League so they can still have four teams in the CL from 2011.

But then again Juve lead 3-0 over Siena after 10 minutes last weekend and managed to draw 3-3

haha, carn Fulham. Watched this match in the pub before deciding that going to get drunk in town > better than watching Liverpool. Really fun match to watch.

Yes great job Fulham, Roy Hodgson one of the best men in Football.
He really is, such an underated manager. Funny that is reputation in Italy is of the absolute highest standard but it England everyone acts surprised when his teams regularly achieve the top results.

You have to give him respect for having the balls for going outside of England and onto the continent to try his luck. Too bad barely any English footballer or manager would do that (I know McLaren manages FC Twente, and Matt Derbyshire plays in Greece).

Hodgson the only English Prem manager I even vaguely rate, tbh. Not much competition, admittedly, but could see him getting the England gig if we decide we need a native after Fab.

Has a touch of class about him, which his coutrymen lack in spades.

In fairness, think an AC fan would actually kill themselves before cheering for Inter, no matter if it is beneficial to them. The shame of Inter winning the CL would be unbearable. Certainly my experience of their fans its a very no love lost situation. Be like asking a Celtic fan to cheer for Rangers in Europe......

The inherent problem with football when it comes to implementing video reviews is it's fluid nature.

In rugby, if a try has possibly been scored, play stops anyway. Whereas in football you "play to the whistle" - if the ball hits the underside of the bar, bounces down and then out, play doesn't conveniently stop for the referee to review whether or not the ball crossed the line.

Technology is needed, and FIFA's attitude to technology in football is ridiculously archaic, but how it's to be implemented needs serious thought, as opposed to "it works in cricket and rugby, we should use it in football as well."

Heh, they should have been doing that this season, we've lost a Champions League spot from 2011/12 onwards...

Tennis is pretty fluid, but they manage to make it work well there.

I think goal line technolology is a no brainer. Wait till the next time the ball leaves play. Let the video referee work it out on his own while play continues if need be. How about sensor technology like they use in Tennis for detecting service faults and foot faults? Goals are so important in football, I think it's important to think outside the box to get these decisions right.

Penalty decisions, fouls and throw ins are another matter entirely, and I think there's far less scope for video technology in these situations. I'd like to see players issued with yellow cards retrospectively by the video ref for diving though.

Might be a good thing

There is a joke amongst Roma supporters that goes:

'If a Lazio fan is standing on top of a 20 story building and is about to jump off, what is he doing?'
'A good thing.'

Yeah agree completely with this regarding technology.

Also, holy **** C-Dawg Dempsey. Spat Coke all over my laptop when I saw the youtube of it just then. That's insane.
