I can't speak for other clubs, but I got an email from a reliable source recently about the financial restrictions our club is operating under, apparently we need to cut £400k from the wage budget (and we still need about 4 or 5 signings). So £100k is obviously huge, as well as the ~£60k that I'd imagine Taylor was one a year. Great player though, hope he does well.

A whole lot of Premiership-proven quality there - among all the other positives of having that kind of strike force, the fact that they won't require settling into English conditions is a big plus.

City in from 20/1 to 16/1 to win the League next season, as of today.
But you would think defence is a major factor as well. They have a quality keeper in Given, and now just some better defenders.

Thoughts from Gooners on how/if Wenger will use the Adebayor money?
I would suggest Edin Dzeko of Wolfsburg who scored 32 goals in the Bundesliga last season. But Wolfsburg aren't selling and I have some concerns on how he will back it up this season and how he will go against teams in a league of a much higher standard. Otherwise Real Madrid have strikers they don't need.

I thought I'd read somewhere that Dzeko wanted to go to Milan, and if that didn't happen he'd stay at Wolfsburg. You're right though - still to be seen whether or not he's a one-season wonder.

I reckon Wenger is more likely to sign a midfielder or two than a striker - with Eduardo back and Vela coming through he may feel he has enough options up forward even with Ade gone. Melo was apparently their big target but he seems virtually a done deal to Juve now.

I'm really struggling to think of strikers who would be of Arsenal's standard. I have always liked Gonzalo Higuain.

You enjoyed such misery? :(

The one where we lost to WBA in particular sticks in my mind as horrid, was practically in tears.
I didn't enjoy your misery SMitteh, just your company

The one that stands out is the weekend before Chinese Democracy came out, you talked me out of listening to it on myspace as the whites cotnrived to lose to Yeovil, these truly are the days of our lives

BARNES OUT
Articles about City going in for Beckham starting to sprout up after our media chief refused to rule it out. Doesn't make any semblance of sense however, as he wouldn't be first choice and hence would jeopardise his shot at the WC.

Plus, you know, United legend and all that jazz. Would basically be a license to print money for the club though.

Strangely, was not massively popular amongst United fans in my experience. Although that may be confined to these isles, I'm sure the Asian contingent were in love with him, and let's be honest, that's the majority of our fanbase.

Bloke's got the heart of a pea, but he will score goals when he's not being a martyr to real and/or imaginary injuries.

Pleased to get £22m for him, tbh. Imagine we'll probably get Chamakh to keep up our French/African waster quotient now tho.
