Yeah, but if noone else bids aren't Sky allowed to pick it up? Sure that's how PremPlus came into being in the first place

Would love ESPN to get the FA Cup rights. The only bit of English football I need to turn to the internet for as it stands. Wiping that one off would complete the season setup for me.

But on Setanta they showed the whole competition and not just all of the big teams eaither. I'm pretty sure Tranmere featured on there once or twice. Wouldn't mind if ESPN picked up German football, I seem to enjoy it a fair bit. Don't care about Ligue 1 or the Russian Premier League (the standard of some of the teams were Championship level IMO).

Wonder who they'll replace him with. Hard to see them making it four in a row without him but sadly Ferguson normally gets these decisions right.

Ribery and they can now secure the services of Tevez. Benzema and Valencia are also been mentioned as targets.

"I think that makes sense, should get 3 world class players for that. be a shame to see him go, but am glad he stayed with us for another season and helped us to the title again.

Think we need an out and out striker and a play maker midfielder. Maybe Messi?"
lol@messi, he'd never leave barca and furthermore, he is neither of those players he stated.

If they go for Benzema, Carlos will go. He's still pissy at being 3rd choice behind Rooney and Berbatov, he's not going to happily sit behind Benzema as well.

If Man U had any takers think they would get rid of Berbatov in a flash. He likes being a big fish in a small pond but the only problem is no European club is stupid enough to front up the kind of cash Man U forked out for him.

Wow

We are a bit behind in Australia when it comes to buying football magazines in the newsagents (unless you have your own subscription) and I saw the letest edition of World Soccer and it said something about Karim Benzema stating that he did not want to leave Lyon before the 2010 World Cup and that Lyon have put a massive price tag on his head (that and from what I read his form was off in the recent Ligue 1 season). It is a load of bull, if a fee is agreed to with Lyon and it is a club in Spain or England, hewill sign for them. I would be shocked if Benzema turned down say Manchester United to stay with Lyon for another season.

Seriously mixed feelings today – love or loathe him, Ronaldo was a magnificent player for United, particularly over the past three seasons. I didn’t want him to leave and while it seemed inevitable that he would one day I did think he’d give us at least another season or two, or stay as long as Fergie did.

That being said, £80 million is dead set insane money and his value will only decrease from now on as he’s moving into the third year of a five-year contract and there was no way he was signing another one. If all or most of that £80 million is given to Fergie then it could be exciting times for the club, particularly on top of the kitty we’ve already got plus other sales (Campbell, Manucho, Simpson, a couple of others).

The downside of course is that clubs will now know we’ve got that money to spend and will probably add a few million to their asking price – Bayern have today said that they won’t let Ribery go for less than £65 million, which is even more insane than the Ronaldo money. And regardless of price, neither Benzema nor Villa seem to want to come to England. Valencia is looking a sure thing now though, though also seemingly overpriced at £16 million.

An interesting summer ahead, methinks.
