International Coach
TBF, **** deserves all the injuries he gets after what he did to Ronny Johnsen, never got anywhere near as good again after that (yes i know, he played a fair bit the next season when we won the treble, but that was more due to Stam being immense and the fact we had **** all else)

I have a soft spot for Owen as he got me into football ( Saw him score a goal on tv and liked what I seen so tried to catch a full game and fell in love with the game.)

This was a while ago.

For those of us that don't know, what did he do :p

You-tubed, can't find any clips etc. but I'm assuming that's partially because I don't actually know what I'm looking for

BARNES OUT
Citeh next season, maybe? Can't see too many other clubs taking a punt on his wages with his fitness record.
Can't see it. Maybe 3 years ago when we bought every aging English striker that became available.

If he does I'll almost stop supporting the club. Huge step backwards and he's not good enough for where we're going (or want to be going, for all of those people who'll quote me and laugh at what I said).

but it cost him that vital extra yard of pace he had (2001 was about the last time he genuinely had that kind of searing speed, certainly picked our pockets in the FA Cup final that year) so really became a goal poacher rather than a player who played off the shoulder of the last defender.
After Euro 2004 & his days @ Madrid i still think he was pretty sharp. His lack of pace i'd say really showed up after he came back from his WC 06 injury. Since then yea, he has become a bit off a goal poacher.

But i dispute the notion that Owen doesn't work (i.e hangs around for 80 mins in the box & sneaks two at the end).

30 in December (wow), so think we've seen the best of him now and also I reckon Bobby's goalscoring record is safe until Wayne breaks it in five or six years from now. IIRC Owen's on 40 and can't see him getting another 10 with Fab in charge.

All true. But fact is he still remains the our second best goal-scoring option, if Wayne (god forbin) where to get injured during the WC. He is still the best man to replace him, that was clear during the EURO 08 qualifiers.

For change of clubs, its either he stays @ Newcastle and hopefully they play better next seasons. Or as the rumours say he probably goes to Everton or Villa.

Can't diagree much with the first part. He's definitely not staying at Newcastle though.

Haha, was hoping you'd enjoy it.
Can't doubt the awesomeness of the special one.

Is Rhys Williams any good. Talk is that he decided to play for Australia over Wales, to increase his chances of playing in a World Cup. Could he be our solution to our centre back issue with Neill.

Yeah would like it to be Burnley actually, will fulfill the West Brom role of nice football but just lacking the killer instinct. Still you never know, there is always one side that will take the Premiership by surpise,

**** won't know who I want to lose, have always hated Sheff United (intensified during the Warnock days and hate Blackwell as well) but Burnley ranks up there with the most inbred places in the world, one of those places where the people look at you funny when you go into a pub because your not local (or related).

But Jimmy Anderson comes from Burnley so I hope the team from France loses.
